The 92nd Sunningdale Foursomes begins tomorrow, as a field of 256 players, men and women, amateurs and professionals, take on the two historic courses in the game’s finest format. As always, the draw is filled with fascinating names and pairings. Our Amateur Correspondent Hugo Cornell has combed through the field to pick out the most interesting stories ahead of the opening round. Read Hugo’s excellent piece here: bit.ly/4uogvbM

Almost exactly a year ago, my other half Heather Dewar @HDewarSport was diagnosed with breast cancer. It’s been a tough journey but thankfully she’s been given the all clear. And throughout it all, she handled it all with typical courage, resilience, gallows humour and determination while continuing to work and give a voice for those affected by cancer. She also received national award recognition for her outstanding contributions to sports journalism. I cannot express enough how proud I am of her. She’s an incredible woman, a force of nature and an inspiration for so many people fighting cancer. ♥️

I agree Sheldon. The players outside of the first choice 11 are good players (well most of them) and good enough to play a game out after the job is done. As a fan watching that last night, I was never comfortable. Too many stray passes and players still nervous on the ball or don’t seem to be getting into the right positions.

That was harder work than it had to be. One thing we learnt very early on this season: we don’t have enough strength in depth to field a somewhat second string side to do the business over 90 minutes. We saw it first at Swansea, then at Sturm Graz, then at Wrexham, then at Braga and now tonight against Fernebache. How many chances do some of these second string players need? As Cloughie always said: “Play your strongest team to win your next game of football.” That’s all that matters, no matter what the fixture or competition. Forget two or three games further down the fixture list. Football is ALL about momentum. Keep the snowball rolling down the hill, the more momentum, the more mass it picks up, the faster & stronger it rolls. Not just on the pitch but off it too. Don’t slow it down because it becomes so much harder to build back the momentum. Should have started with the strongest 11 tonight, gone 2-0 up, put the tie out of sight at 5-0, THEN rest some of our first teamers and bring on some of the second string. City Ground would have been buzzing, let them play. Instead it was the opposite: dropping down a couple of gears, letting them get a grip, scoring two goals, giving Fenebache fans cause to cheer, creating a nervy City Ground. None of this does any good. It’s totally unnecessary. Let the snowball roll down the hill, give it a push where needed but definitely don’t slow it down. Let physics do its thing. Momentum is everything.

The reason all these progressive mouthpieces like The Guardian, John Simpson, Ed Davey, Emily Maitlis, Adam Boulton, Emily Thornberry et al. are having meltdowns about the criticism of the BBC being accused of bias, and calling it a “coordinated attack”, is because they are so marinated in globalist dogma and progressivism they don’t even realise their worldview is flawed and biased. The Guardian say “each criticism of BBC coverage comes from the anti-progressive culture-war playbook”. Implicit in the statement is that progressivism is the truth. To be progressive is to be unbiased. To be anti-progressive is to be not true. They see the BBC as a “beacon of truth”, when it is demonstrably a beacon of progressive bias. And those complaining that other media outlets like The Telegraph or GB News are biased ignore the fact that those media groups don’t purport to be unbiased, as the BBC do and have a responsibility to be. GB News would never have existed if the BBC had been unbiased. A further insult is that the British people are forced to fund the BBC, unlike those other outlets. But Matthew Syed paints a bleak picture in his Times piece of the problem facing Samir Shah and the BBC. 75% of establishment institutions are staffed by progressives, who’s ideology is only shared by 13% of the public. So of the 20k+ BBC staff, likely 15k+ are progressive. Good luck trying to reform that behemoth.

Thanks to barrister @Francis_Hoar for the generic message. As of today, AI is available on WhatsApp and therefore has access to all chats. You can enable the "advanced privacy" option. Otherwise, AIs can open group messages, see phone numbers, and even retrieve personal information from your phone... even in private chats. To prevent this: 1️⃣ Click on the bar above that says "Advanced chat privacy enabled. More information." 2️⃣ Turn the "Advanced chat privacy" option to On. Do this as soon as possible and share it with other groups you're in.

@SkySportsGolf does golf need a rethink for viewer engagement? Instead of having one cut, have a cut after every round. Unless you’re within 12 shots of the lead, you miss the cut after round 1, then within 10 after round 2 and within 8 after round 3. Condense the field. Only 20 players in with a realistic chance of winning today.

I was literally thinking this as I drove home... In the same way that smartphones stopped people reading books, #ai is stopping us from actually THINKING. What's the point in trying to form an original sentence; research through Google or contact an expert for help?.... It's all there. We are about to create a generation of lazy, entitled, intellectually stunted f***wits... Are we not?
ZUBY:@ZubyMusic

I seem to be the only person concerned that AI is making people even dumber, lazier, and less creative.

Yet another example of lawmakers making laws based on zero understanding of the sport. Officials should have absolute ability to raise a flag when offside occurs rather than ridiculously having to wait until the phase of play ends. In this case it's lead to a nasty injury when everyone's time, emotions and health could have been spared. An utter fucking shambles happening every single week.

Breaking: #nffc striker Taiwo Awoniyi taken to hospital this evening, and is due to undergo urgent abdominal surgery, I’m told. Complications discovered today by club medical staff, who took him straight to hospital. Awoniyi tried to play on, but was in obvious pain v #lcfc.

It’s probably been said, but this was all preventable. Perhaps the referees assistant was just following the rule book, but it’s the creators of this stupid law, that we now have a serious injury to deal with. If it’s obviously offside, then put your flag up!! The injury could’ve been much worse!
