For more than eighteen years, the rearview mirror has quietly been my companion, reflecting the little boy you were and the young man you’ve become. From the time I carried you to your first steps and now watching you stand on your own in the world, I’ve been given the rare gift of witnessing your becoming. I never missed a moment playing trains, coloring, reading together, dressing up as Spiderman, monster trucks, Awana nights, football, soccer, baseball, lacrosse, Dragonville, Minecraft, baking, Snickers, walks, science projects, treasure hunts, and all the quiet moments in between. Every single piece of it mattered to me. I know you sometimes get tired of my traditions, but I created them so you would always have memories to carry with you. Today you turn eighteen, and it feels surreal. Watching you grow into a man has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. Your dad has played such an important role in shaping who you are, and you remind me of him in so many ways. During times when life felt uncertain and I felt empty, you gave me purpose and filled my heart. Every day I thank God for you. I see your faith, compassion, discipline, love for music and art, dedication to football, and the way you care for and lead your brother and sister. Your honesty, work ethic, and quiet confidence make me incredibly proud. More than anything, I’m proud of who you are and the way you move through the world with respect for yourself and others. You are, and always will be, my pride and joy. I will always be right behind you, cheering you on wherever life takes you. Comimg this May!!! My 🎂 Well, that’s a wrap on Episode 12, and what a journey it’s been. Thank you to everyone who has been part of it, and to all of my phenomenal guests. I’ve been truly surprised by the people who said yes and by those who reached out along the way. I know we helped people, and that means everything to me. It feels bittersweet to have started this chapter with my husband sharing his story and to end it with mine. None of it was staged—it all unfolded organically. He actually laughed and said, “You didn’t read the questions, did you?” because he didn’t think I was prepared. And I certainly didn’t—I never do. I just trust the conversation and let it happen naturally. The final episode, Beyond the Velvet Ropes, is deeply personal. I talk about my book, my movie, and the experiences that shaped me. There are lots of tears, and it’s authentically me. I’m going to take a short break to focus on my book and movie, but this isn’t goodbye—just a pause. I have to share this it’s kind of a wild story. When we sold our old house, I had scripture throughout it, and although some realtors told me to take it down, I kept putting it back up. The couple who bought it told us the house spoke to them through that scripture…..That house held such a special season of our lives, our kids were little, riding hoverboards through the house, and all the chaos and joy, especially the time we spent there during COVID. I even wrote them a letter asking that if they ever sold it, they’d think of us. A few days ago, I told my husband I had a dream that they reached out to us, and he said, “You’re not going to believe this, they actually reached out to me two days ago and asked if we wanted to buy the house back.” Before it even hits the market, we got to go see it today. We spent time talking with them, and the owner and I shared tears. They are truly the most wonderful people. It’s just a house, brick, wood, a foundation, but somehow we were both so drawn to it. And I realized I wasn’t in love with the house itself, I was in love with that chapter of my life, and that chapter will always live in my heart. #fullcircle #godwink #icantmakethisup

I went from laughing with her one day to standing over her casket the next. She was shot and killed. She knew the people who did it. That’s the part I can’t shake. The world didn’t stop. The mall was still open. The bell still rang at school. People still laughed in the hallways like nothing had happened. And I remember thinking — how is everyone just… okay? I wasn’t. I felt like I was made of glass, like one wrong move and I’d shatter right there in the middle of it all. That’s when I learned grief doesn’t stop the world. This idea changed my life forever. In college I went from getting benched at the end of my sophomore season & starting 3rd on the depth chart the next spring, to an All-American and eventual 1st-round pick… all because of this one idea. I poured over film trying to figure out why I wasn’t playing well. That’s when it hit me: every single problem traced back to second guessing and indecision. So I made a commitment, I would make “instant decisions” on the field with zero regard for the outcome. After just 3 practices, I won my starting job back. It wasn’t until I made that commitment that the game slowed down. The rest is history.

What an all-time great. I remember watching LaVonte David when he came out of Nebraska. He played in the other team's backfield and has been an unbelievable pro. There really wasn’t any weakness to his game. He can do it all: blitz, hit, and cover. The thing that stands out when you watch him play is how efficiently he moved, almost no wasted movement. Congrats on a great career.
