OK, taking a minute from the jokes to say: Sending support to all those who worked at @SpiritAirlines. The home office and a key hub are just minutes from my house and a lot of people are hurting. Thanks to all for doing your best and wishing you a solid future

The area in which I live & work in Broward County, FL was Tequesta land. The Tequesta tribe ceased to exist [a small remnant fled to Cuba in the 18th century] as a result of diseases that came with European settlement, wars, and forced relocation.legendsofamerica.com/tequesta-tribe/

Rabbi Yosef Weinstock refers to Pesach - #Passover - as the Annual Jewish Storytelling Festival. If you're attending a Seder, remember to connect the Exodus to all stories of personal and national liberations and to be inspired to work towards freedom for all

On the Hebrew calendar, today is the beginning of the month of Nisan, the first month of the year as the Torah counted. The verse "This month shall mark for you the beginning of the months; it shall be the first of the months of the year for you"

Thanks to all the security personnel, law enforcement, and volunteers who keep the Jewish community safe (and who are also working with Muslim, Christian, and other faiths to keep them safe). And thanks to all allies and friends that have reached out.

Special greetings for today: Shabbat begins tonight. Most synagogues, schools & organizations continue to provide for the highest level of security possible. You can ignore a false meme going around suggesting people stay away from services.

Some of y'all don't pass armed guards on your way to religious services, or on your way to work in a Jewish school, preschool, organization. I do. We Jewish folks, are grateful to security personnel, law enforcement, volunteers protecting Jewish community in the US and worldwide.

I’m honored that my friend and colleague, Rabbi Susan Elkodsi, included my d’var Torah in her inspiring new book, Midrash Hazak: Torah Wisdom by 70 Over 70. Grateful to be part of a project that uplifts the voices and insights of our elders.
