On June 13, 1777, a 19-year-old French teenager landed on a beach in South Carolina, uninvited, to fight in someone else's war. He would become one of the most important men in American history. The Marquis de Lafayette was one of the richest young aristocrats in France. He had a beautiful wife, a fortune, and zero reason to risk any of it. But he believed in the American cause so fiercely that when the French king forbade him from going, Lafayette bought his own ship and sailed anyway. He literally went AWOL from a life of luxury to bleed for a country that didn't exist yet. Congress was annoyed at first. Another foreign officer looking for a paycheck? Then Lafayette offered to serve for free and pay his own way. That got their attention. He met Washington and the two formed one of the great father-son bonds in American history. Washington had no biological children. Lafayette named his only son George Washington Lafayette. He took a bullet in the leg at Brandywine and kept rallying the retreat. He was instrumental at Yorktown, the battle that won the war. He went home a hero on two continents. A foreign teenager believed in America before America did. 249 years ago today.

The reasoning/logic behind the faction is…dubious, to put it mildly. As another character puts it, they sound like crazy kooks. Glory and Dr. Carrington are the only two “normal” members, who make any kind of sense. So I can understand why a lot of players hate siding with them. Also everyone wants to fight along side the giant anti-communism robot. However I will say that they have maybe one of the coolest missions against the BoS in the game. It’s also genuinely comical. But, in the end, yeah…it’s kind of a garbage faction with really badly designed and written characters. Again, with the exception of Glory and Carrington. #Fallout

@TKsMantis I mean…I still chuckled? And I have nothing but deep love and respect for Japan. I think it was easy to laugh if you came up with G4 from the TechTV start and knew the sarcastic delivery of dialog came from people who didn’t mean it and where smarmy charming as ***k.

The problem there is (take with a grain of salt) that a number of high profiles devs within Bethesda tried to tell Todd that SF couldn’t be what he wanted it to be because of things like the engine and console limitations. Not to mention NASA-Punk doesn’t have the broad appeal of fantasy or more traditional science fiction settings. He didn’t listen, he pushed and shifted massive resources and talent and, in the end, while SF didn’t bomb it definitely wasn’t a hit. And it doesn’t help that they’ve been leaning hard on 76 and buying mods from third party indie devs for creations. I know they have passionate developers in house, but when it seems like the majority of Bethesda fans are asking for the same things and getting vague comments, well…🤷🏻‍♂️😬

Not a big fan of people claiming that Bethesda “doesn’t care about games anymore” because it’s a huge company with many passionate workers and I think they’re just shaken up a bit by releasing a new IP and not having it be a mega-success like TES and Fallout
