Oscar Mingueza and Harry Wilson on free transfers in the summer + one of Trafford and Diogo Costa to replace Martinez. Maybe a random young winger from La Liga or Marcus Rashford if the opportunity arises. That will be #avfc ‘s summer. Bookmark it.

The thing that forever surprises me: when fans suggest that the likes of Siwiris, Edens and Atairos bought into the club without knowing the financial restrictions they’d face. And the suggestion that they will just ‘give up’ as if the challenge is some sort of surprise. #avfc

@GarySmithJnr New north stand, plans to develop Aston and the Doug Ellis. Atairos came on board mid project. Plenty more that we don’t know about I’m sure. This doesn’t suggest stakeholders who don’t believe they can achieve what they want - these sorts of people do their due diligence.

We are so lucky to have our owners, but I do worry that with the current rules we have hit our ceiling, and eventually they might think what's the point? 🤷🏼‍♂️

@GavSi1814 @danbardell I think I am, I don't deny that. I put myself in the same knowledge category as every other fan. I am not defending the club by asking questions in a discussion. I'm on the fence.

Truth. Nothing worse than the replies I get telling me Villa “have no choice”. The multi million pound business does have a choice, yet they make the wrong one time and time again. You think they’d baulk at paying an agent an extra million to get a player? Fleeced. #AVFC

@GavSi1814 @danbardell Selfishly, it's far easier to debate people on Twitter who pin their sales to the mast that to engage the people at the football club. If I had more access to ask the club, I would do. I'd love to know.

@GavSi1814 @danbardell I'm just questioning the arrival at a conclusion based on simple information that appears to the Layman as glaringly obvious. Are we missing something?

@GavSi1814 @danbardell So why are they doing it? Why go to the effort of making a statement about it and implementing it if it's just a economically disengaged status quo move.

@SC__AV @danbardell Yeah in a nutshell. I'm picturing a decision making process where all benefits are weighed against risk - you'd assume this is standard business practice.

@GavSi1814 @danbardell Well this is where I would dispute your claim that it hasn't worked. I'm not saying it has, but the commercial behavour suggests an upside. I agree with your redirection - I'd like to understand what they are looking at because i'm hesitant to take a position at the moment.

@JonMilesHart @danbardell The decision for these prices was decided under the tenure of Heck, announced 29 May 25. It hasn’t worked though & commercial teams within the club should be able to see this and act. Perhaps redirect your questions to the FAB / Calvo ? I’d be interested to hear what they say.

@JonMilesHart @danbardell It’s obviously to make money, it’s not a lot standalone but it compounds over years. That compounding is why they won’t back down - they want to make high ticket prices the new normal. They don’t really care about ‘legacy fans’ complaining. The die has been cast.

@GavSi1814 @danbardell They continue to make the same decisions regardless of who is in charge of Business Ops. This can no longer be blamed on an out of touch American CEO, the current one has been at Barcelona, Juventus and Roma. Repeated decisions based on same outcomes. So what do they like?

@GavSi1814 @danbardell So are you suggesting their decisions must be affecting the top line? I think it's indisputable that a full stadium is better for atmosphere than one that is not. So what metrics are they looking at ? Because this isn't a one off. We've been in Europe for 3 seasons now.

@GavSi1814 @danbardell Well if there is a financial hit to the club you'd think they wouldn't do it? They must make these decisions based on some form of information. 'Because they can' doesn't quite explain it for me. In other areas they seem to care about fan sentiment, so why seemingly not here?

Although I’m surprised there is no one with some brain cells activated in Villa’s commercial team.. perhaps they could connect the empty seats & work out why we’ve failed to sell out any European game this season…

@danbardell sure thats another thing to consider, why is their strategy different to ours? Answering both questions would be helpful in understanding the context.

@myoldmansaid Out of interest, how would you explain their motivations? Surely when they make these decisions the risk (fan displeasure) must be weighed against the benefits. Even if we disagree with the strategy there must be one right? so what is it?

When I asked Chris Heck & Ben Hatton (who set these prices back in May) to explain why it cost twice as much for a Villa fan to stand on the Holte than it did a Liverpool fan to stand on the Kop, for a Champions League game, the line that Anfield was bigger was trotted out. Villa Park is bigger than the City Ground by 12,000, but here we are, Villa fans being ripped off once again. The disrespect is just disgusting now. What's even worse is the misinformed apologists on here trying to defend such actions. There's staff at the club who can't believe how spineless fans are in just taking it.
