Today in the Oval Office, Trump signed an executive order fast-tracking FDA review of psychedelic treatments, and the people who made it happen were not your typical Washington crowd. On April 7th, Irish farmers, truckers, hauliers, and everyday working people started blocking motorways, fuel depots, and O’Connell Street in Dublin. The reason was simple: fuel prices had exploded because of the Iran war and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, and the Irish government was not doing enough to protect its own people. The protests grew fast across social media, with convoys of tractors and trucks shutting down major highways and blocking Ireland’s only oil refinery in Whitegate, Cork. Around 600 of Ireland’s 1,500 petrol stations ran out of fuel completely. The government called it an “act of national sabotage” and deployed the Irish military to clear the blockades. But the people kept pushing. Today, Tuesday April 14th, Ireland’s parliament held a no confidence vote against Prime Minister Micheál Martin’s government, called by Sinn Féin and backed by multiple opposition parties. The government survived by just 92 votes to 78. A junior minister named Michael Healy-Rae broke ranks, resigned from government, and voted against his own prime minister, saying the rural people of Ireland had been left behind and needed to be listened to. Protesters gathered outside parliament as the vote happened, with demonstrators saying this is not over. This is what happens when working people are pushed too far. They do not just protest. Stanford’s 2026 AI Index: The Gap Is Almost Gone Stanford’s Human-Centered AI lab dropped its 423-page 2026 AI Index on Monday. The headline number is 2.7%. That’s the US lead over China on AI benchmark performance measured as 39 Elo points on the Arena Leaderboard between Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.6 (1,503 points) and ByteDance’s Dola-Seed-2.0 Preview (1,464 points). In 2023, that same gap was 17 to 31 percentage points across MMLU, MATH, and HumanEval. Two years later it has nearly vanished. What the report found: The US still leads in top-tier model output and higher-impact patents. China leads in publication volume, patent grants, and industrial robot installations (51% of global installations vs roughly 3% for the US). US private AI investment reached $285.9 billion in 2025 23 times China’s $12.4 billion. And yet the performance gap is measured in single digits. The most alarming non-capability finding: AI lab transparency scores collapsed from 58 to 40. Even as global AI adoption hits 53%, public trust in the labs building the technology is falling. The gap between AI insiders and the general public has never been wider. One standout data point that captures how uneven AI progress is: Gemini Deep Think earned a gold medal at the International Math Olympiad. The same class of model reads analog clocks correctly just 50.1% of the time. And one structural risk buried in the report that deserves more attention: a single company TSMC in Taiwan fabricates nearly every leading AI chip on earth. The US has 5,427 data centers, more than 10 times any other country. But almost all of them run on chips made in one foundry. The 2.7% lead is real. It is not commanding.

The vaccine dosage was obviously too high and done too many times. I had the original Wuhan virus before there was any vaccine and it was much like any other cold/flu. Bad, but not terrible. But my second vaccine shot almost sent me to the hospital. Felt like I was dying.
