Why did I choose Guildmaster? Since I was a child my dream has been to work in humanitarian aid- disaster response. Hence the Direct Relief fundraiser. At some point in highschool I developed a more ambitious, and admittedly, childish dream of starting my own non profit organization. A non profit that would act as a city's hub for volunteer work. Create a sense of community, have a growth strategy, and reward participants. I had problems with organizations not being financially responsible, having to follow very strict protocols, being too specific on work performed, lacking a sense of community when you're working FOR the community, disregarding mundane tasks and needing to meet a certain number of volunteer hours to not get kicked out. People could come in, become a member and choose from any number of rotating volunteer assignments that have been received from the public and sorted by a receptionist. I can get local sponsors and create a system where volunteers could redeem accrued volunteer points to redeem stuff from the sponsors (discounts, gift cards, free pizza, whatever). I can create a community in these hubs so people are more likely to gather and see the volunteer assignments and make a gamified version of helping others. We could serve mediocre food and drinks and basic games and host events and karaoke, yada yada. And all the profits from that can be directly funneled into upkeep while any extra is put towards expanding out to other cities or funding hubs that are struggling. This is an adventurers guild. I hadn't realized it but I wanted to open a real life adventurers guild. But I'm poor and oh so very stupid. Every day I think about another issue the guild would have, and until I have an answer for all of them I'm better suited as a lackey, helping in what ways I can and gradually becoming less naive- gaining more experience and wisdom. So, being a "Guildmaster"- a funny little guy on the internet under the flag of my real dream could one day evolve into something I would be happy with calling the guild hall I've always wanted or doing the work I want to.
