A picture of Steven King from 1975. Stephen King, one of the most prolific and renowned authors of contemporary horror and suspense fiction, was born on September 21, 1947, in Portland, Maine, USA. His early life was marked by significant challenges and experiences that would later influence his writing. 1. Childhood Trauma: When Stephen King was just two years old, his father, Donald King, abandoned the family, leaving his mother, Nellie Ruth Pillsbury King, to raise Stephen and his adopted older brother, David. This event deeply impacted King and is reflected in themes of abandonment and familial dysfunction in many of his novels. 2. Early Writing Ambitions: King developed a passion for writing at a young age, penning his own stories and selling them to friends. He even created a small newspaper called "Dave's Rag," which he circulated among family members. 3. Education and Struggles: King attended the University of Maine, where he studied English and wrote for the student newspaper. However, he struggled financially and lived in a trailer with his wife, Tabitha, and their children while he worked various odd jobs to support his family. 4. Carrie's Success: In 1973, King's debut novel, "Carrie," was published. It was a breakthrough moment for him, as the novel quickly gained popularity and was later adapted into a successful film. This marked the beginning of his prolific career as a writer. 5. Prolific Output: Stephen King has authored numerous bestsellers, including "The Shining," "It," "The Stand," and "Misery," among many others. His work spans various genres within horror, science fiction, and suspense, making him a versatile and influential writer. 6. Accident and Recovery: In 1999, King was involved in a serious car accident that nearly cost him his life. During his recovery, he found solace in writing, and this period led to novels like "On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft," in which he shared insights into his life and creative process. 7. Legacy: Stephen King's impact on the world of literature and popular culture is immeasurable. His books have sold over 350 million copies, and many have been adapted into successful movies and TV series. He has received numerous awards for his contributions to the horror genre, including the Bram Stoker Award and the National Medal of Arts. Stephen King's personal experiences, coupled with his vivid imagination, have allowed him to create a body of work that continues to terrify and captivate readers around the world. His ability to tap into universal fears and explore the darkest corners of the human psyche has cemented his legacy as a master of horror fiction.

Hi. Hello. Welcome to the new and improved PFT. Even if, for plenty of you, it will take a little time to conclude that it's actually improved. (Trust me, it is.) nbcsports.com/nfl/profootbal…

@_MLFootball Rocky Marciano, Sugar Ray Robinson, Jesse Owens, Richard Petty, Jack Nicklaus, and Mario Andretti. They all dominated their sport at the time. How is Mike Trout better than any of the men listed. And I don't believe Serena is the best female athlete the world's ever seen.

@chrismelson17 @_MLFootball At the time Jesse Owens was the greatest athlete in the world. I cannot understand how he's not there. All the team players had help to be their best. They didn't do it alone. I like your post.

@_MLFootball Greatest athlete or most successful? Tom Brady will not be in the top 10,000 of greatest athletes... but definitely top 5 of most successful athletes. If you include Brady, Jack Nicklaus as well. Pure Athletes = Bo Jackson, Jim Thorpe, Jesse Owens, Jackie Robinson....

@_MLFootball If Brady is there for Superbowl wins Id have to place Bill Russell first. I don't think a team sport should be the greatest athlete list. Why don't I see any great golfers, What Muhammad Ali did for the sport, human rights and more. Far exceeds most up there.

@archeohistories Try placing the center between each eye and re-measure it all. When I look at it your line isn't in center. But what do I know.

This is how phenomenal finishing precision of Egyptian statue looks like. Symmetry of face is amazing. There is no question of even slightest deviation or any unevenness. Everything is made with attention to smallest details and symmetry. Let us remember that these were times in which there were no measuring tools that we use today, but somehow managed. Sculptors in ancient Egypt definitely knew their work. #archaeohistories

@SenatorTimScott American people need free school lunches and breakfast for all students. We need a way to afford utilities. Support our military. There are many things that start at home first. Get along, not be bullies. Lol

America needs a leader who will put the Chinese Communist Party in their place. No more allowing balloons into our skies and foreign surveillance over our citizens. Americans deserve strong leadership to tackle this threat.
