The fuel is said to have entered the local market despite concerns about its quality. Early findings suggest the cargo, believed to have originated from Saudi Aramco, may have been overpriced by more than Ksh4 billion and did not meet required standards. The case has raised questions about possible financial losses and the safety of fuel supplied to Kenyan consumers as investigations continue.
