@TheBreakdownAB 🤯 Resist generic term of ‘nurse’ as a single credential. For the caller: 3y diploma exists = LPN Fact: 3 regulatory colleges in AB for ‘nurses’ (LPN, RPN & RN). ➡️ diploma prep for LPN & RPN 2.5-3y ➡️ undergrad. prep for RN & RPN 3.5-4y ➡️ NP + 2y post-grad/ master’s degree

On nursing… Smith not only agreed the the requirements for nurses to get credentialed should be significantly less… She’s got an announcement coming where teachers won’t have to be as qualified too! #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli

I worked at south riverdale for 15 years. The closure of this site is the loss of a life line. These last weeks many people have died including a coworker who we bury on Thursday. Life is struggle for the majority. SCS cannot solve poverty or homelessness. It can be a refuge💔

MY LATEST > A very sad day for @SRiverdaleCHC. I've written many stories about this site over the years. ‘Our work is never done’: East Toronto supervised consumption site closes its doors amid shift in Ontario drug policy cp24.com/politics/queen…

@dani_susanna Agreed. The concept is fantastic. An entire season representing one shift. ONE SHIFT. lol Good capture of the madness.

I get really tired of having people hear about addiction or chronic pain and get excited, then passionate, they start a non-profit or enroll in college, start some advocacy organization and reach out to you, you get involved, divulge your entire life story, they take that information and use it for their thesis or dissertation, then you see them a few years later and they’ve moved on to the next cause that will pad their a academic career, usually nothing that has to do with pain or addiction.

Harm reduction isn’t about nudging people toward abstinence—it’s about rejecting the idea that drug use makes someone disposable in the first place.

Tell me if I'm being unfair here but every major Canadian city - whether run by conservatives (Vancouver) or progressives (Edmonton, Toronto and Montreal) - has become a cesspool of drugs and crime and corruption where our kids don't feel safe and can't find decent housing at an affordable price. What's going on?

@STEMcelMoron @Marielaina3 @imchilee @alanfryermedia Amounts for personal use are decriminalized in BC. Section 56 exemptions are part of SCS permits. None of this is scandalous or hidden. Public intoxication is tolerated on bar strips all over the country. You can drink in many parks, legally.

@KinnonRoss @Marielaina3 @imchilee @alanfryermedia Wow, that's almost like they're made legal in those circumstances. It's almost like they're defacto decriminalized as well, as essentially nobody is actually convicted for holding small amounts for personal use and public intoxication is wholly ignored. Very eye opening stuff

The gap between First Nations and non-First Nations life expectancy in Alberta is 19 years, wider now than any other point on record. This is a provincial and national emergency. #ableg stalbertgazette.com/local-news/fir…

the fact that the decline in deaths is consistent across jurisdictions with vastly different approaches indicates that the primary cause of the reduction of fatalities is the changes in the unregulated drug supply – #bcpoli cbc.ca/news/canada/br…

Frustrating to watch drug deaths being used as a vehicle for advancing economic agendas, but no new policies or new investments that are likely to actually make a difference for the people at risk of dying. #cndpoli #ableg

@KinnonRoss One time my wife was there when a nurse pushed 2g of ancef over 15 seconds. I got chest pain, turned pale, started sweating and vomiting. The nurse turned to her extern and said, “technically we’re supposed to push it over 3 mins, but nobody does. He must be sensitive.”

Most nurses who’ve cared for me would ask me to rate my pain on the 1-10 scoring chart before administering methadone. However, they would perform a COWS prior to administering an opioid specifically rx’ed for pain. In conversation it was clear the didn’t understand the tools.

@billkinkle Oh boy. Indication for direct iv administration is pretty clear- why on earth wouldn’t they infuse it by pump?!

@KinnonRoss Pushing drugs that used to be for pump infusion is another. One nurse out of dozens pushed meds over 3 or more minutes. I got so much anxiety when it was time for ancef because they most often pushed in over 15seconds, I would get so sick.
