Celebrated a 5 year and a 7 year anniversary from diagnosis of stage 4 lung cancer this week in clinic with 2 diff patients, and also grieved with 2 others who both got way less than avg duration expected from a treatment. Heart wrenching. We must do better. #LCSM

#EddieRabbitt died 21 years ago today at the age of 56, just shy of one year after his lung cancer diagnosis. With recent advances in targeted therapy, he may have lived a lot longer. Unfortunately, #433aDay still die from this disease every day.

2019 NIH budget is $34.4 BILLION, only $355 million was budgeted specifically for lung cancer with 163,199 confirmed deaths, not estimated, in 2015 (over 100,000 more than 2nd deadliest cancer.) report.nih.gov/categorical_sp… This is a PROBLEM!

I’m just a daughter who lost her mom 2 lung cancer and is pissed it took her so quick. Dr. Stiles specializes in lung cancer research. cancers w/ lowest survival rates (ie lung & pancreas) currently receive little fed’l $ compared 2 other cancers. This is not a coincidence.
