nytimes.com/interactive/20… “The essay exposes the specific tactics we can expect from this promised study: a masterclass in statistical maneuvering designed to manufacture a supposed "link" between vaccines and autism. The piece reveals the deeply problematic background of the expected study leadership and why this choice virtually guarantees predetermined conclusions that contradict decades of legitimate research. We've seen this playbook before; when thimerosal was removed from vaccines in 2001, autism rates continued rising. When Andrew Wakefield's fraudulent MMR study was debunked, critics moved to new targets. Now it's aluminum's turn, despite overwhelming evidence of safety. The pattern is clear– no amount of evidence will ever be sufficient because the goal isn't scientific truth but manufactured controversy to justify policy changes.” --Jessica Steier

@AerLingus are you ok with taking someone's money for an upgrade only to tell the passenger at check in that you over booked and to add insult to injury their original seat that they paid lots of money for is also gone?? Oh and to get your money back you need to file a claim!

Why does RNA undergo glycosylation? Excited to have our new paper out. We in collab w/ Ryan Flynn show N-glycans on glycoRNAs hide self-RNA from endosomal TLRs promoting ‘silent’ clearance of dead cells. nature.com/articles/s4158… @uconnhealth @UConnResearch

Many proteins bind RNA, yet we still don’t know what RNAs most bind because methods map one RBP at a time. In @CellCellPress, with the Jovanovic lab, we describe SPIDR – a method for mapping the RNA binding sites of dozens of RBPs in a single experiment. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Grant terminations have grabbed the headlines and have seen legal action, but even more damaging to the US research enterprise has been the massive decrease in research grants issued by federal agencies NIH: -57% in the number of awards and -63% in value compared to FY24
