“we don’t need to turn christina koch into a celebrity” bla bla bla you know what? i need to see more women like her being celebrated. i’m tired of influencers getting rich by selling stuff we don’t need. bring back professionals that make you dream big, study and work hard.

Remind your daughters that in a world full of “get ready with me” influencers, here’s what else women can do: let’s not chase beauty, let’s chase purpose; let’s not chase admiration, let’s chase accomplishment.

The reason why people have reacted emotionally to all the profound statements made by the astronauts and the photographs is because we are not seeing science, basic human decency, intelligence, humanity being center stage absolutely nowhere in the world atm. Even a pandemic failed to make us realize how beautiful our planet is, what a gift it is to be born on this planet and how cruel we have become as a species. The Artemis II mission has made people feel connected to the universe, to the earth, to the moon. This planet doesn't just belong to the rich and powerful billionaires and politicians. It belongs to us, the people who want to do good by our children, our families, our communities and our planet. What are the odds that we and all our ancestors were born and get to experience life on one of the dots in this picture of the Milky Way? Make it count.

Men will literally look at a woman who is a mechanical engineer and an astronaut who has been in space longer than the other 3 male crew members COMBINED and is one of 4 people to be as far from earth as she has…then comment on what she looks like.

Someone could go to school for 4 years and study aerospace engineering, then get a PhD with a dissertation related to orbital mechanics, and some instagram influencer who watched a youtube video will be like "actually that guy is wrong" on a topic related to space travel and people will believe them. I'm not sure how we got here, but I hope we go back to a society where credibility is earned with rigorous training in the associated field, not by a popularity contest.

It's sooooo cool and wonderful to listen to this NASA broadcast and hear so many (brilliant! qualified! badass!) women's voices Women have always been smart and capable, but we haven't always been included. These missions are, and always have been, for all of humanity, and it makes me emotional that the historical record of this important mission will be filled, for the first time, with the voices of women, too

And just knowing the work, dedication of people and advancement in technology in the last 50 years in order to do so should be something us humans should be in awe of. I have loved watching this mission.
Laura@Lauraaa_65

Can’t believe how many people are thinking the Artemis mission is not real. The conspiracy theories flying around (excuse the pun) are crazy. Yesterday we flew the furthest humans ever have and that should be celebrated. The imagery, being able to actually watch it ourselves(1/2)

One last look at Earth before we reach the Moon. This view of the Earth was captured on April 5, the fourth day of the Artemis II mission, from inside the Orion spacecraft. The four astronauts will reach their closest approach of the Moon tomorrow, April 6.

4 people are in there with hopes, dreams, risk and the unknown. It makes me breathless, knowing how they're feeling and what they're facing. So exciting to see what we're capable of when we work together in common purpose, deciding to push back the edges of our collective ignorance. Have a great voyage, crew of @NASAArtemis!

The Orion spacecraft successfully separated from the upper stage of the rocket, and the "proximity operations" test is underway. The Artemis II astronauts are manually piloting Orion similarly to how they would if they were docking with another spacecraft.
