@chadocl If a source was concerned about something, then it's Whistleblowing and you are an appropriate person to go to. If they make contact via reddit, I'm not sure reddit can do anything about it, but that's a chat to have with reddit Teixeria was not a Whistleblower though

@LegendaryPatMan Imagine someone posting secret docs at the North Korea News subreddit, used to primarily discuss news and by journalists like me. Say the source leaks stuff that is deeply concerning for many about US intentions with the Koreas. Is it appropriate for me to then out that person?

I find it very, very bizarre a major publication would name someone sharing secret documents, as well as promote the fact their article is off paywall, like this. As journalists we protect sources. I must have missed the memo it’s OK to out sources who leak at other media…

@chadocl Back to Teixeira now. Say he was a source. Taking photos showed he learned from Reality Winner. And say the NYT or WaPo protected him and didn't give him up but treated him like a Whistleblower. Say Discord didn't help the Feds. He was dead to rights anyway
