I really like "black background" NES games. It's just a good art style in general. Moody, high contrast, allows you to indulge in very high detail without getting too noisy. Honestly, I think it's a super valid artistic choice even if you aren't mimicking "NES-style" games

Been a bit of a shmup tourist this past week (brave rounds demo, raystorm credit feeding, son son & natsuki chronicles story mode) then a few days ago I jumped early on the shoot the core cast game for April: Mecha Ritz Steel Rondo. Fun to explore in detail, current pb 18mil 🤘
