Last Friday, I watched Dhurandhar: The Revenge in the theatre. The movie itself was absolutely top-notch, and I have no complaints about the film. I had booked the 6.15 PM show and was very excited, so I reached the theatre by 6.00 PM. At that time, advertisements and trailers for upcoming movies were playing, which I completely understand and have no issue with. However, this went on for almost 30 minutes, and the movie only started around 6.45 PM. Additionally, the interval duration was longer than expected. Typically, intervals last around 10–15 minutes, but this one extended to more than 20 minutes. I also spoke to a few of my friends about this, and they shared that they have experienced the same situation during their theatre visits as well. My only concern is that theatres should value the audience’s time. Viewers already dedicate several hours to watch a long film like this (which was totally worth it), but the extra time consumed by extended ads and longer intervals makes the overall experience unnecessarily lengthy. A 4-hour movie ended up taking almost 5 hours in total. I believe theatres should be more mindful and respectful of the audience’s time.
