Pray for our students currently on church placement: 1. Thank God for Pastors giving their time & wisdom. 2. For students & churches to have a mutually beneficial time. 3. Pray our students will gain valuable experience. 4. Give them renewed energy and enthusiasm in ministry.

Spurgeon Church History, Assoc of Pilgrim’s Coffer
On This Day: Forty five years ago today, the Church on earth lost a mighty voice, and Heaven received a faithful servant. On March 1, 1981, Dr. David Martyn Lloyd-Jones entered his eternal rest. He was known to many simply as “The Doctor,” not only because of his early medical training, but because of his spiritual precision. He diagnosed the disease of the human heart with biblical clarity and prescribed the only true cure, the new birth through Jesus Christ. From the pulpit of Westminster Chapel in London, he preached with a gravity that cut through sentiment and with a depth that demanded thought. He believed in the authority of Scripture, the necessity of regeneration, and the power of the Holy Spirit. He refused to reduce preaching to personality or entertainment. For him, preaching was theology on fire. It was truth applied to the conscience. It was eternity pressing upon time. In an age drifting toward compromise, he called men back to conviction. In a church tempted by trends, he called pastors back to exposition. In a culture intoxicated with surface religion, he called believers back to spiritual reality. Forty five years later, his sermons still speak. His expositions of Romans, Ephesians, and the Sermon on the Mount continue to instruct and to stir. His insistence that revival is not manufactured but sovereignly sent still challenges us to pray rather than to perform. Today is not merely a date on a calendar. It is a reminder. A reminder that faithful preaching outlives the preacher. A reminder that sound doctrine sustains generations. A reminder that men who stand firmly on Scripture leave footprints that time cannot erase. “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.” Psalm 116:15. Dr. Lloyd-Jones finished his course. He kept the faith. And the pulpit he once filled still echoes with a call to seriousness, to holiness, and to the glory of God. May his memory move us not merely to admiration, but to imitation.

Martin Luther. When things look bad we can take comfort in the idea that God is a poet and we are the poems he writes! Reading Martin Luther is good for you! (LW7:366)

Four things that AI can't replace in the life of a Pastor: 1. Prayer 2. Wrestling with Scripture 3. Pastoral judgement/experience 4. Personal prescence (From @paullintott's insightful sessions yesterday)

"Wisdom is grounded in relationship with God, biblical wisdom. Ai doesn't have that... artificial intelligence does not equal understanding. And output, however convincing it is, is not the same as insight." Paul Lintott

"...Even though it [AI] can speak in very personal tones, it is not personal, it's not morally responsible, and ultimately, in biblical terms, it is not wise." Paul Lintott

"The next step... is to understand the effect and direction it's going in, in order to help people think biblically about it... If you don't help people to think Christianly about AI, they will think about it uncritically. And we want to be critical in our thinking." Paul Lintott

"In order to be useful to people as pastors and teachers, you don't need to be an expert in AI... but you do need to understand in broad terms what AI is and what it's not." Paul Lintott

@RememberLondon The privilege was ours. Grateful to God for the immense impact of Lloyd-Jones and others like him who've gone before—we're truly 'standing on the shoulders of giants'.

What a privilege it was to sit down with these men! Looking forward very much to releasing these podcasts. @LondonSeminary was profoundly helped by Dr D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, whose library was later given to the Seminary - and indeed is featured in this photo.
