The message of Hoppers is only good if you think irl politicians could care about anything but money. In our current political climate this movie feels like insulting propaganda. Our politicians can't even gaf about the humans under them.

This is why I donโt really get the criticism of Hoppers having a weak message. Jerry is more empathetic than a real life politician which makes him redeemable; unlike the real antagonist the film had who is more aligned with irl politicians and he ultimately got what he deserved.

I also hated that they portrayed the insects as villains because insects are already villainized despite being so important to the ecosystem. People do not care if a bug dies and I feel they were used as a safe villain for people to hate for this reason

Hoppers was not woke enough for me. I disliked how the plot pivots from saving the glade to saving the asshole from consequences of his own actions. Insects lowk in the right wanting to squish that guy but ig we can't have killing politicians in kids movies ๐ญ
