@Anthony__Koch Canada existed for 100 years before official bilingualism was imposed on us; so you are wrong. The main distinction between Canada and the US is our allegiance to the British monarchy, not language.

My take that pisses everyone off: It is impossible to be a Canadian nationalist while denigrating the significance or relevance of the French language. The single greatest differentiator between Canada and the United States is the existence of Québec.

@KirkMiller47849 @jamesbezan You cant transform an entire military in a few months, what did change concretely? military housing being, pay raises, new quickly bought equipment, HIMARS. The only time Harper did something concrete was new tanks and helicopters in Afghanistan because soldiers were dying.

@Lucvend @jamesbezan And they were wrong for doing so, agree? So what if Harper had played a shell game and turned that 0.7% into 2%?...would you have some questions as to what has actually improved? Would you have clapped and offered a hero cookie?

The whole point of the NATO 2% target is to strengthen our collective defence, not to do creative accounting by moving non-military bureaucracies into defence departments. When will the Liberals commit to getting our troops the equipment they need to defend Canada?

@Lucvend @MarcKieley It's tougher for an A Res unit to lug around HQSS for the various admin & otherr needs for sub-unit (& unit) sized exercises we run. But a few a-frames, purloins & fabric sections of Mod tent? Super easy to throw some in anywhere...

@m_Janelle @MarcKieley Lack of budget for buildings is catching up to us real fast. I am really happy that things are opening up but I am still upset fornthe lack of foresight in infrastructure planning.

@Lucvend @MarcKieley When I was in DCSEM, HQSS was under-utilised (partly because folks are still hanging on to & using Mod tent more than expected). A few months employment of HQSS to build capacity is exactly what it's meant for. Doesn't matter where in the CAF. Just hope actual buildings follow.

@Lucvend @MarcKieley Good. Now, we need more instructors. Sadly my unit isn't helping much this year though. Most Officers/NCOs who would normally instruct are overseas or working up this summer

@m_Janelle @MarcKieley HQSS for CFLRS is a temporary solution that drains Army capacity.

@m_Janelle @MarcKieley Camp Vimy will get new buildings in the next few years. No more tent camp.
