They matched because these foreign medical graduates have excellent academic performances and did research work, compared to US graduates. If you don’t want IMGs matching in US hospital, make sure all your medical graduates have stellar academic performances.

Patients who reduced frequency of GLP-1 dosing (from weekly to every other week) are able to maintain weight loss & metabolic syndrome gains, as reported here.
Findings suggest while large increases in GLP1 levels may be necessary to induce weight loss, more modest elevations may be sufficient to maintain it.

📢NEW: In a study of 600,000 people published today in @bmj_latest, we found GLP-1 drugs (Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro) associated with reduced risk of addiction across alcohol, opioids, cocaine, cannabis, nicotine—and 50% fewer substance-related deaths.

@jvbornillamd @sexdoctordeano can be interpreted as illegal. There is already a paradigm shift amongst HCPs. Med societies should support the Public Health Approach to Drug Use Act. These initiatives will prosper if the govt will decriminalize substance abuse and see that addiction is a public health issue.
English

@jvbornillamd @sexdoctordeano Yes. PDEA is already looking into it. There is also HARAP that advocate for harm reduction practices. But it is largely advocacy and capacity building, not govt sponsored public health programming. One important step is to revise 9165 because many core harm reduction activities
English

As doctors, our duty is to provide people with harm reduction information.
These meets people where they're at, instead of asking them to stop using drugs. Sasabihin agad, STOP!
In every healthcare practice, we should embrace the principles of harm reduction:
•Non-judgmental approach that meets people where they are at
•Treating all individuals with dignity, compassion, and respect
•Opposition to the stigmatization of substance use disorder
•Use of evidence-based policy and practice
•Accepting behavior change as an incremental process. Small gains for many people have more benefit for a community than large heroic gains achieved for a select few. People are much more likely to take multiple tiny steps, rather than one or two huge steps
•Inclusion of individuals in active addiction, in recovery, and within the community to shape policies and practices
•Focus on quality life improvements over abstinence
•Commitment to universal human rights
•Empowerment of the individual as the primary agent responsible for reducing the harms related to their substance use
We are not tolerating substance abuse, we are actually dealing with the problem properly.
