@Der_Augustus definitely. Good performance, important win. But you simply cannot compare this opponent to the rest of the teams you will face

Germans should avoid too much negativity online and over-criticism. The performance wasn’t perfect, but the win was incredibly important. This generation needed to break that curse, to win big, win comfortably, and build confidence. Back them, push them, don’t over-analyse it.

Nathaniel Brown: "It's incredible to score in my first World Cup game. My family and friends are here. We scored 7 goals. Sure, we conceded an unnecessary goal but I think it might have done us good to wake up. We kept our heads up, controlled the games and scored many goals. We have to keep going and work on our weaknesses"

1860 München’s top talent Maximilian Jaschke (born in 2014) has joined Bayern München. The attacking midfielder already made his debut a year up for Bayern’s 2013 age group at the Cordial Cup, where he also won his first title. Welcome to Bayern!

@dzi_analysis Imo santos should have been closer to diaz anyway as soon as they lost the ball. He started running towards diaz only when diaz had already received the ball

For me a lot of that goal is on Santos, he jumps to press Diaz between the lines but doesn’t engage in a duel or make any physical contact to stop him playing that pass. He half presses then backs away, you can’t get away with doing that at this level, Krejci did it few times against Kang In-Lee and we all know how that ended. Morocco have been brilliant so far. Their dynamic profiles have really helped them get the ball from back to front fast for transitions.

Niko Kovač advised Bayern against signing one of his own Dortmund players last year How? Last summer, after Bayern failed to sign priority target Nico Williams, they turned to alternatives. One of them was Dortmund's Jamie Gittens. The supervisory board, including Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, was skeptical about the player. A club employee was tasked with contacting Niko Kovač to get an honest opinion from him about Gittens. Kovač is said to have made it more than clear that he considers the Englishman "not professional enough" to succeed at FC Bayern. The club then abandoned the pursuit of Gittens and went all in on Luis Díaz. Gittens ended up joining Chelsea [@BILD, Bayern Insider]

Bosnien dominiert physisch & geht so in Führung.

I mentioned about the Bosnia threat from set pieces. Had about 3-4 set pieces now which Bosnia have won first contact. Was only a matter of time until they got punished from one. Other than that I don’t think Canada have been too bad, moving the ball from back to front well with fast transitions. Yet to really see a team have a period of settled possession.
Dom@dzi_analysis

Canada vs Bosnia mini tactical preview: CANADA 🇨🇦: - Canada build in a 3-2-5 or 2-3-5 dependent on the positioning of the FB’s, usually the RB is tucked into the backline with the LB inverted into midfield. - One key element in their in possession structure is the wingers and FB’s must be on different lines. You’ll rarely catch them on the same vertical and horizontal line. - The on field relationships between the wingers and FB’s is usually great, will often see movement from one to free up space for the other. - Out of possession they press in a 4-4-2 which can transition into a man to man press higher up, one thing which impressed me was how well Canada back the press up in wide areas. FB’s willing and ready to jump, no second thoughts. - From opposition goal kicks we often see Canada press in a diamond, they focus on blocking central progression and forcing the ball to one of the split CB’s (ideally the worse ball player). From there they look too trap them on that side. - Injuries have been big inside the camp. Davies is 90% unavailable, Bombito is just coming back from a broken ankle, Davies’ replacement Laryea has also had recent injury concerns. Not what you need going into the first game. BOSNIA 🇧🇦: - Very experienced group of players, 4-4-2 mid block off the ball but face issue as their 2 CM’s are very man oriented. Manipulate those and Canada can find joy. The 2 strikers don’t defend deep. - Similar to Czech in regards to them not having the most technical group but they are however very physical and a big threat from set pieces. - 4-2-4 in possession which can transition into a 3-2-5, expect Canada’s block to match up with this pretty well. Czech nearly won yesterday just due to physicality alone despite being quite frankly ripped apart tactically so I wouldn’t be too surprised to see Bosnia cause an upset. Overall though when taking everything into consideration, despite the injuries which will no doubt play a big part. I favour Canada for this game.

@dzi_analysis good analysis. Haven‘t watched neither team the last months but most of the things you said, were visible in the first half. I also saw Canada playing a few chip balls to their strikers whenever they were 2v2 against the bosnian CBs

According to Senegalese media, the initial intention of coach Pape Thiaw was to include Bara Sapoko Ndiaye in the preliminary squad in order to give him some experience and get to know the national team. He was supposed to be one of the players cut from the final squad. But the Bayern midfielder impressed during the training camp in a way that left the coach with no other choice but to call him up to the final World Cup squad

Kennet Eichhorn's release clause is lower than initially thought. It is worth around €9m for Bundesliga clubs. The player's camp is demanding a signing fee worth around €10m. They argue that Eichhorn's market value is €20m, so the total package is still entirely in line with the market. Borussia Dortmund are unwilling to pay the €20m package and have withdrawn from the race. Bayern and Leverkusen are not deterred by the price and are still after the 16-year old. Meanwhile, Liverpool are actively searching the market for a loan club to loan out Eichhorn, since they can't move him to England before he turns 18. The player has yet to make a decision [@SPORTBILD]

Juventus' Brazilian centre-back Gleison Bremer (29) has emerged as a possible option for Bayern this summer. Juve have to sell players to raise funds after they failed to qualify for the Champions League, and Bremer has insisted he wants to win trophies. Premier League clubs are also interested in the Brazilian. On the other hand, Bremer's potential move to Bayern could facilitate Kim min-Jae going the opposite way. Luciano Spalletti is keen to reunite with the Korean defender, with whom he won the Serie A in Napoli. Bremer is valued at around €40m. Juve are hoping his participation at the World Cup with Brazil would drive up offers [@GiovaAlbanese, @Gazzetta_it]

Nagelsmann on why he called up Leroy Sané despite a pretty average season at Galatasaray: "His numbers at club level weren't high enough. With us, he's racked up five goal contributions in the last four games. Of course, I also have to assess his performances for the national team. He's a subject of much debate. It's becoming increasingly clear what he's lacking. He's extremely popular within the team - with Antonio, Jona, Jamal – I could name 15 others – I have a good connection with him. A real synergy can develop in the tournament. He has something special about playing in tight spaces. Given his perhaps not-so-great numbers at club level, he might initially find himself in a challenger role. He can make a big impact against deep-lying defenses with his speed and technique. I have a great relationship with him and I'm confident I can push him to his limits so that there will be much more positive feedback about him after the World Cup."
