Dr. Gladys West was a mathematician whose work on satellite geodesy models paved the way for modern GPS. She was a member of AKA, an inductee in the Air Force Hall of fame, and has an elementary school named after her. She passed away yesterday at 95yo. Tell her story. 🕊️

My sweet niece Londyn, 13, sang the National anthem today at a Naturalization Ceremony for new citizens. I am so proud! As I listened to the words the song hit differently as I thought about anti-immigrant attacks…. My country ‘tis of thee …

In a story Monday about the owner of a Philly real estate firm behind an $82M scheme, @PhillyInquirer used a photo of a Black woman — herself a victim. The optics were troubling and we are calling the paper out. This is Unacceptable! Read the story: inquirer.com/news/abc-capit…

Dearest #RubyBridges: Thank you. >>> 65 years ago today, 4 federal marshals escorted 6-year-old Ruby Bridges to her 1st day of school (1st grade), as the 1st Black student to attend previously all-white William Frantz Elementary School in New Orleans, Louisiana. And today, there are legislators and school districts seeking to ban teaching on Ruby Bridges under the guise of banning “wokeness.” We have to stand so that they don’t whitewash U.S. and world history.
