Team accomplishments: - 31-9 record - Substate champs - Centennial League champs - Washburn Rural Invitational champs - Emporia Tourney champs - Manhattan Tourney champs Individual accomplishments/stats: - 2nd Team All-state 6a - Shawnee County 1st Team & Newcomer of the Year - Centennial League 1st team & Newcomer of the Year - 397 kills (4.3 kills per set) - 229 digs - 20 block kills - 29 aces - 2.1 serve receive rating Just the beginning. 4A State 🏐 Tournament Player to Watch: Topeka Hayden’s sophomore standout Hailey Schmidtlein is a name to watch at this year’s 4A State Tournament. Schmidtlein has been a difference-maker for the Wildcats once again after helping lead both the volleyball and basketball teams to state berths as a freshman last year. This season, she’s averaging 4.7 kills per set while hitting a team-best .318, and she also leads Hayden in total blocks (49) and service aces (45). The sophomore already has 845 career kills and will look to keep adding to that total as the #6-seeded Wildcats head into state this weekend. #sportsinkansas
