@TrTriton0501 The characters are there to push an idea. Denji had to let go, but he couldn't and the world ends. The ending is clear in showing that his life would've been better if he let go.

Dude, this isn't "giving up a superpower", this is giving up your FRIEND. Pochita is Denji's best friend, it wouldn't be in character for Denji to abandon Pochita for his own benefit. Pochita sacrificing himself for Denji's sake is the only way, and it's in character for Pochita.

Fullmetal Alchemist literally ends with Ed giving up Alchemy, the thing he loves and is passionate about, to save his brother. Having the main protagonist give up what makes them special to save others is not a lack of conflict, it’s a resolution to conflict and it’s WORKED.

We know in the ending that if he lets go of the chainsaw, he lives a happy life. We know that if he doesn't, world ends.

You guys have latched yourselves to the idea that Denji was completely incapable of growing past the person he was and that’s the fundamental problem. If Denji could go from having no life at all to learning to love his family to not falling for Makimas bait when she took it from him, the natural progression was learning on his own that he didn’t need Chainsaw Man to be happy. But instead of writing a story where he learns that, Fujimoto decides to have Pochita do it and end the story. That is the disconnect

@J0hnnyStar Learn what exactly? He beats Makima almost exclusively because he wants to keep being Chainsaw Man. He is renouncing himself to his alter ego, and is why Part 2 occurs like it does. He attached his happiness to being Chainsaw Man, and it ended horribly.

Him having to realize he has to abandon his friend, and his friend going "yeah, I knew this had to happen but sit quietly and let it happen anyways" is egregious lol. Pochita has agency, he is his own character that realized how he burdened Denji.

If Denji was given the choice for this to happen and he made it himself, then he quite literally is doing what Pochita wants him to do. Do whats best for him. It's explicitly stablished that the events of Chainsaw Man affect the relationships and behaviors of the characters. No-one acts like their Part 1 selves. Power would've save a complete stranger on a whim.
Nayuta would've behave as she does if she hadn't been raised by Denji.

Make it so Denji is the one who chooses and not Pochita. You are quite literally laying out the easiest most simple character arc in existence and saying its 'good' that it never happens/comes to fruition. Denji never develops, and that is a bad thing.

@Brayden2028_ The characters aren't real, they are tools. That's a fact that has to first be accepted. We didn't forget anything, we are not experiencing memory loss, you can still extract meaning as you normally would.
