Every "representative" of the people ( if they truly represented the people) would call an emergency meeting for all the other members in order to hammer out one simple bill that says "The U.S. Government is prohibited from spying on and collecting data from any American. What Americans make, how much they have, where they go and what they do is none of the government's damn business! And any agent of government who transgresses this law will be jailed for life." Privacy is freedom. Without it, you have none.

OK, regarding recent events with a certain UK vtuber and her legal problems, I want to make a few things clear about my position just so no one can try to twist my words. One: I do NOT agree with the artwork that she had commissioned of her character in various adult situations while being depicted as a young child in both mannerism and design. I take offense to the idea that anyone can view such material as tasteful or acceptable in any way. I don't consume adult media since becoming spiritually sober, but even I can admit that some things just really shouldn't be shared. Two: I am completely against government censorship. There are laws for a reason, yes, but when these laws stop meaning anything because of unequal enforcement against certain people or things it becomes control and not law. Think migrant gangs and the ways that leaders will bend over backwards not to hurt their feelings. Three: this entire situation is polarized, and for good reasons on both sides. One side is vehemently against the art itself, which I understand. While the other side is fighting against what they feel is overreach by government officials. These are both valid viewpoints that do not cancel out the other. The bigger picture is more than just your side. Four: No, drawings do not make someone a predator, no matter how objectionable they are. I will die on this hill because I don't want us to lose sight of the real threat to our children. It's not an anime art piece, or a fan fiction story, or a dakimakura. It's the creep you didn't see perving on your daughter. The female teacher who's too familiar with your son. The uncle who you forgot had creepy vibes when you were young. The real monsters don't make art, they make inroads with our kids through knowing what they're interested in and then pushing further. We NEED to keep our kids safe. But censoring the internet and jailing anyone with a pen that creates something we don't like isn't helping with that. It's creating an online war that acts as a smokescreen for the real danger. And that's what Satan does best. He pulls our attention off of the lion stalking us with a distraction, just long enough for it to get our neck between its teeth. Five: no matter how anyone feels, the true issue right now is that this is NOT an isolated incident, nor is it going to be the end of it. The UK has already proven that it will protect minorities rather than minors. And the US is beginning to enact similar laws that could be misused the same way. The real problem is this: when comfort is prioritized over liberty we lose both. We cannot legislate morality any more than we can legislate faith as a mandate. We're only handing over control of our ability to speak out to those who wish to shut us up. This has been my TED Talk. Thanks for reading.
