Leclerc would not have lost two years in a row to Alonso, and skill-wise, Alonso is not clear of Leclerc. Also, as a hypothetical, Leclerc would have delivered a better wdc campaign in 2008 than Hamilton did against Massa.

If Leclerc starts in the 2007 Mclaren, he loses 2007 to Alonso, 2008 to Alonso (who becomes a 4 times back to back world champion), he does nothing in 09 (probably one or two pole positions), does nothing in 2010, 2011 and 2012, he'd probably be at 10 wins against Ham's 22 ⏬
