@dsware123 You know you can eat those stems right? They are really good for you, full of nutrients and can be chopped up and used in soups and stir fries, sliced and roasted, sauted in butter etc.

@RadfemBeat @NinaPanickssery How many elderly are unable to help/travel and their children never visit or bring the grandchildren because their lives are just too busy to make the time for an old person, unless they can use them for childcare.

@NinaPanickssery The grandparents are hit or miss. Ya might get 1 out of 4 that actually shows interest. I don’t wanna sound down on the old people, but some of them are really selfish.

Genuinely curious—why don’t more people use their own parents/kid’s grandparents for childcare as opposed to daycare/preschool/nannies (which seem more common)? Is it common for boomer grandparents to show disinterest in their grandchildren?

@NinaPanickssery Boomer parents will move hours away from their children and grandchildren. Happened to me. Happens very often. They dont want to be bothered. They will also hold it over your head, and consistently remind you, if they do anything charitable for anyone. No thank you.

@PJA1066 Your understanding is wrong. Many benefits are classified as taxable income as is the state pension. Most on benefits will not receive amounts that put them above the £12,500+ limit before tax kicks in. The state pension is below this limit, it is other income that we pay tax on

@billifer1973 Husband has sleepless nights, we have tried everything bar medication. Nothing works. I on the other hand sleep well. I am able to just shut off everything mentally and just go to sleep. I am the object of hatred by many insomniacs.

Does anyone actually sleep through the entire night? Like without waking up at all? I can only go 2 hours tops.

@billifer1973 Me, well apart from a trip to the toilet sometimes now I am older. I go to sleep in about 5 minutes and sleep right through. I mean I turn over sometimes but that is pretty much in my sleep. My husband watches me and silently seethes.

It’s really strange how some boomers are blaming young people taking “bullshit degrees” for the reason they can’t buy a house when they’re the ones who encouraged that if we wanted to be successful, we should get a degree. Most 18 year olds are following the advice of their parents and their schools when they go to university - this is system that the boomers set up and now young people are being blamed for it.
