The way Elsa is very sexual in her behavior and the way Meili attempts to imitate her, since she is the only role model she really has, is worth its own look & analysis of their relationship

I think some of you saw my last post about the SA themes in Meili’s character especially with her assault by “Subaru” in the last episode and saw it as me complaining about it? This is more of an observation and even a compliment. It was very disturbing and very well handled

@Chattyloser And in arc 6 the terror Subaru expresses at being exposed for something a foreign being forced him to do hurts so much more. There really is a great parallel between Meili and Subaru that goes deeper the more I think of it

@Chattyloser YES. You made a great point! Subaru’s literal body being invaded by a powerful being caressing his heart and threatening “be quiet or I will hurt you”, even if unintentional, absolutely brings silencing of abuse victims to mind, especially with him as a minor at the start.

@Scoped2099 I might make a post to explain my interpretation a little better but there ARE sexual undertones to the way “Subaru” behaves around her and in Meili’s backstory in general. I don’t mean SA ACTUALLY happened just that the narrative brings that theme up to assist its storytelling

The way “Subaru” and Meili interacted last ep brought up the imagery of a sexual assault of a child. It genuinely made me so upset and uncomfortable. Imagine someone in your body doing something like that to a kid… The guilt is unimaginable. I feel so bad for Meili… My girl…

@CM21ThePuffer @Scoped2099 There absolutely is a reading of Meili’s and Subaru’s loss of autonomy with sexual themes being relevant. Especially with Meili’s abuse by Capella and her death. Even if you don’t like this interpretation I think dismissing other interpretations of the story is rude

@katapa6942v2 Subaru and Meili really are parallels in the way both are children who lose autonomy over their own body… Meili who is assaulted and killed and Subaru who is invaded by a foreign entity and made to carry it out. They are both children in this instance…

@SPACE0PERA Meili didn’t ever have anyone aside for Elsa, and it’s so clear that she tries to imitate her in every way down to copying her mannerism and her sexual acting like licking her lips and acting “mature”. After her death all she can think about is how to survive…

@MargGri Even if I knew it was coming that scene made me want to throw up. Knowing just how vulnerable and lost Meili felt after Elsa's passing, to the point she smiled after being rightfully disturbed, a part of her feeling relieved there might be a way out of that makes it way worse..
