We are devastated by the news of a Greensboro Police Officer being shot and killed. Durham's heart aches for the officer's family, friends, and the entire law enforcement community tonight. We continue to pray for those that suit up and stand between us and chaos every day.

@NinthStreetWatc It's an oddity to state the fact that they are non-regulatory and non law enforcement? I never questioned their efficacy or intellect. I think our city lawyers are pretty smart as well and they don't think we're in violation. Assertion is not fact smart lawyers notwithstanding.

@MarkAMiddleton1 That's an odd position to take. They are one of the best environmental litigation shops in the country (with some of the smartest lawyers). And section 505 of Clean Water Act allows a private cause of action, so no "cops" needed - in fact SELC can sue themselves...

Just finished watching the latest CC session. Had my jaw on the floor after @MarkAMiddleton1 compared Neuse river keeper to the Proud Boys; did anyone catch that?

@NinthStreetWatc Yes. The SELC letter has been bandied about with the accompanying dramatic 3 chords. They are an advocacy group with an opinion and lawyers on the payroll. They are not a regulatory body nor a law enforcement agency. If and when we violate the real cops have our mailing address.

@MarkAMiddleton1 Ok and thanks for responding. I agree that more people should watch these things. I did hear the Clean Water point but it hit me differently - didn’t SELC also send a letter warning about it?
