@MathMinds That makes sense! Yes, I’ve seen how one student’s contribution can spark something in another — an idea they may not have arrived at totally at their own — but also I don’t want students to wait for that inspiration to strike (without engaging on their own).

@jennalaib + The whole group discussion often goes way beyond what is on their papers as they bounce ideas around, but now each kid has a starting point in the discussion!

@jennalaib first vs starting with the whole group and having other students share those ideas before I call on them. I find they become more invested in the collective ideas when their idea is one of the recorded ones.
