When this is over, the western part of NATO will never be the same. Spain, England, France and Italy have sold us out, as they too often have a history of doing. Eastern European nations are the heart of NATO. They spend money on defense, know how to fight and love the US. France particularly deserves fault and blame. From supporting China and Russia at the UN to denying Americans overflight rights, they’re doing what they’ve always done - showing weakness, while cutting deals with terrorists. (The reason the US has a Marine Corps and Navy is unlike France, we refused to pay a ransom to the Barbary Pirates. France is always happy to cut a deal.) Wars have unintended consequences as nations show their true colors. NATO will never be the same, and Western European weakness and acquiescence is the cause.

@son_ofa_car @Eric_Erins I feel the same. My wife and I would love to stay here, but we can’t build our future here. Every financial incentive points elsewhere. If you own a business, are pro-growth, want to build wealth, lower your taxes, invest in a place long-term, etc., Chicago is a bad bet.

@Eric_Erins Yeah I was thinking of moving back this year but decided on Denver. I feel bad if you own property there. Rent isn’t coming down either, they won’t build and the taxes will continue to pile up. Sad. I love Chicago so much but I can’t build my life there.

The thing with Chicagos pension problem is as the younger population outpaces the old I imagine very few feel this was a promise that they made or feel much obligation to.

@lacherbauer @vivian39_ The reality is Chicago made the decision to lose out on those financial jobs to Dallas. It don’t just happen naturally, decisions Illinois and Chicago leaders made is what caused this.

Solution one: Most countries in the world do not allow birthright citizenship by soil. Congress should immediately pass a law restricting birthright citizenship by soil to only those countries that also allow Americans born there to be citizens of their countries too.
