I watched a lot of basketball this weekend, across all 3 NCAA levels. I’ll just say this - #d3hoops is in an incredible spot right now.

I understand the difficulty with logistics and timing in putting the D3 title game on the same weekend as the D1 Final Four (whether it be MBB or WBB). But watching the reaction to today's game, and having been in Dallas for WBB in '23, it's easy to see how much of a net positive it is for #d3hoops when it does happen. Normally, the D3 title games are played on a Saturday afternoon/evening at the exact same time as D1 tournament games are going on. That greatly limits the reach of content/attention from the D3 games, regardless of how thrilling they are. I love the fact that we have so many people in the basketball world talking about the D3 MBB title game right now, sharing the end-of-game sequence on social media, and that a matchup of that magnitude was put on such a big stage. Hopefully #d3hoops gained a few more fans today.

I love JP Estrella & Bishop Boswell true fan favorites Tennessee fans loved. No animosity toward either. This is what happens when players ask for more money than what a team believed they are worth. Barnes knows he needs scorers to reach a F4. He’s going to get that in the portal. Houston and Michigan were B2B E8 games that you couldn’t effectively score the ball and the game was over at halftime. You can now spend this money on keeping Evans & Brown (develop them further), getting more guard play to create points, and get a really solid big. There is no reason to panic. Barnes got DK from Northern Colorado, Lanier from North Florida, Okpara from Ohio St (as a 5 PPG player) etc. Barnes will construct a roster that will be highly competitive. This is just the way college athletics works sometimes in the NIL landscape. The guys that entered the portal got offered more by other teams through their agent and Tennessee doesn’t want to match. You’ll have the money to go field a really good team that can make a run and score points.
