I’m still in disbelief this happened. Here it is. Timelapse of historic New Orleans snow storm. Snow got up to 12 inches on my snowboard in the French Quarter.

No...this isn't somewhere up north! This is Lafayette, Louisiana, getting near blizzard conditions as they are under a Blizzard Warning! Baton Rouge NOT under that warning, but still a Winter Storm Warning. 4-8 inches expected. wafb.com/?utm_medium=so…

It's easy to forget given how dry the last month plus has been, but Washington DC had its 2nd-longest streak of days with measurable rain (11) immediately before its now-record streak of days without measurable rain, which finally ended yesterday after 38 days.

ICYMI, Phoenix ended an incredible 21-day streak of record highs which included topping the former October monthly record (107°) each of the first 8 day of the month. It's notable that on most days the records were beaten by more than 1-2°--records were beaten by 5°+ 8 times.

#Helene is a reminder that the Saffir-Simpson scale does not tell the whole story about a storm. This map shows the wind fields of Hurricanes Michael and Idalia at landfall vs. Helene. While those storms had higher peak winds (so far), Helene has a much larger wind field.

Phoenix has now had seven straight 110°+ highs. This has happened many times before during the summer months, but this is the first time on record with more than 4 consecutive in Sept. Meanwhile, the city's record shattering streak of 100°+ highs should finally end this weekend.
