imagine going home and away for years up and down the country while we were sh*t, building up match history and then travelling across europe for the last 2 years and putting an absolute fortune into the club, to finally get to a ucl quarter final and have your ticket given to hospitality. absolutely grim🤢

Denis Law, what an icon, what a fantastic man. So humble. Throughout the 90s he would turn up each week in the afternoons at Maine Road and have a cup of tea with his old pal Ken Barnes. My mum, also a Scot, would become a friend and he would always ask how I was getting on with my journalism training because his daughter Di, was also wanting to become one (she later became press officer at United. If I could share just one abiding memory of the Law Man... My now brother-in-law was 13 at the time and suffering from bone cancer, being treated at The Christie Hospital. He heard how tough he was having it through my mum and arranged to come and see Phil. No fanfare, just came in, signed his City shirt, spent half an hour talking to him and trying to raise his spirits and all the other kids on the ward. He gives my father-in-law his telephone number and promises to autograph the pictures they had taken with him. Father-in-law gives him a call a couple weeks later and he replies, "Just a second, Brian, I'm up a ladder doing some decorating!" Remembered his name, remembered the promise, my family remembered it forever. Condolences to his family, to all those who knew or worshiped such a great man and footballer. 💙 ♥️
