I'm not understanding where you're going with this. Isn't that the whole point of the game? Sometimes one game matters, and that is the whole point of playing, it's no different than in any other sport. As someone who has played sports at a high level for my entire life, this just doesn't make any sense to me. Any team can beat anyone on any given day, whether they're the best team or not. You do what you have to do to win, and at the end of the day, USA did that. That's all that matters. It's like saying that at the end of a championship season, the championship team didn't deserve to win because the other team had a bunch of injuries. Well, it doesn't matter, because at the end of the day you have to go out and play the game regardless of the situation. That is the whole point of a competitive sport.

I'm all for the patriotic celebrating after that Team USA win. But, the DR was 100% the #1 lineup. They literally set a team HR record yesterday. Sometimes, a team goes out and plays better. Team USA pitching was clutch. Downplaying that team feels so wrong to me!
