Mandera County Referral Hospital: A couple of weeks ago in Mandera, I saw two friends who obtained doctors' prescriptions for medicine in Mandera Referral Hospital but were advised to buy the medicines from outside. I was told most drugs were routinely out of stock & patients can't get medicines. Sad. It's a Level 5 Hospital but lacks even basic drugs. The County's health ministry got sh 2.7 billion in the 2024/25 Budget. But the medicine shortage reportedly persists in most facilities, including Elwak Hospital. According to its Website, the county has 52 medical doctors & 12 specialists as at Oct 2023. I am informed most are unavailable at their assigned facilities because they run own clinics or moonlight in other local private hospitals or outside the county. If true, it is a shame. Billions spent on facilities/ people where services are unavailable is criminal to say the least! Mandera deserves better!

We are participating in a critical workshop focused on building the capacity of development & conservation NGOs/CSOs in advancing #Kenya's #climate goals. This aims to deepen our understanding of the Paris Agreement on the forest sector and carbon trading. #AfricanFeministStories

Concluded a transformative capacity-building workshop for staff and resource persons, aimed at equipping our team with essential skills and knowledge to navigate the complexities of gender advocacy and political leadership in Kenya. We emphasized the importance of mainstreaming gender in policy and legislation, ensuring that gender considerations are effectively integrated into the policymaking process. We also evaluated the success and challenges of affirmative action tools, analyzing their effectiveness and identifying areas for improvement. #KEWOPA
