HANTAVIRUS: THE “RAT URINE” VIRUS YOU SHOULD NEVER IGNORE
Most people think rats are just annoying pests.
But in some cases, they can carry dangerous viruses that spread silently inside homes, stores, farms, and dirty environments.
One of them is Hantavirus.
HOW DOES IT SPREAD?
Hantavirus is mainly spread through:
Breathing in air contaminated with rat urine, droppings, or saliva
Touching contaminated surfaces and then touching your mouth or nose
Eating food contaminated by rodents
It is NOT something you should joke with.
EARLY SYMPTOMS
At first, it may look like ordinary malaria or flu:
Fever
Body weakness
Muscle pain
Headache
Chills
Vomiting
But as it worsens:
Severe cough
Difficulty breathing
Chest tightness
Low oxygen levels
Some cases can become life-threatening very quickly.
HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF
✔ Keep your environment clean
✔ Cover food properly
✔ Dispose refuse correctly
✔ Block holes where rats enter
✔ Avoid sweeping dry rat droppings directly — spray disinfectant first
✔ Wash hands after cleaning dirty areas.
IMPORTANT:
If someone develops serious breathing problems after exposure to rats or dirty environments, seek medical attention immediately.
A clean environment is not just for beauty — it can save lives.
