@RobPlayfair In the Bloomsbury ‘Social Theory for EAP’ volume, I looked at how context had been theorised & attempts to operationalise it or explore ‘language in context’ in genre approaches (ESP, SFL and New Rhetoric). Am doing the same with CDA now. bloomsbury.com/uk/social-theo…

Why bother theorising context? I think this is a very important question for #tleap. Context can easily be overlooked / downplayed leading to simplifications / unfounded generalisations. But then, what theories of context can we use to avoid this?

Aaargh. I don’t think my Routledge contracts cover this possibility. What are academics to do? A class action against our publisher?

@danielanthonyos It's not explained but I am thinking of it in terms of practitioners informing themselves to offer the best possible knowledge we have. I also think the conditions for reading need to made available and often they are not

@Carole_GU This is great. A @baleap report about access to literature for EAP practitioners is also due out soon so this will link to the reading and CPD theme. There are insights into challenges of accessing literature in different contexts and issues re ways of engaging with literature.
