@hey_mindi We left them all whole. I think it's just easier for us. Just stick it frozen in the instapot and make a week of meals from the carcass and broth from there. I could see quartering them if you like solo chicken recipes but it's just not what happens here 😂

@MikeDoesHmLoans One thing I wished we could have done with this huge batch: quartered some vs leaving them all whole. What did you choose to do?

A year ago this week I was sitting in a hoop house. VERY pregnant. 3 kids. 50 meat chicks. Not 5. Not 10. FIFTY. Why did we get 50 for our first time and not 5…10… shoot, even 30? We asked ourselves that MANY times. If you’re new here, you know it’s tough for me to not go 150% in all areas of my life. Butcher day hit when I was 38 weeks pregnant. You want some cheap entertainment? Just imagine… a whale of a lady forearm deep in chicken carcasses. I was given the job of gutting them all. It took 4 our us 5 hours. But all 50 were swiftly processed before the sun got too hot. We couldn’t look at chicken for 2 months. Would we do it again? Are you nuts? But a freezer full of heritage meat you raised yourself? Tastes different.

@OldHollowTree So much truth - we literally spent the whole month of March cycling who was well enough to do what.

The only thing I wasn’t really prepared for with being a father was how frequently EVERYONE is sick. This is almost entirely because of having a child in school but dang. I’m tired.

@HemmerleinLee My wife has gone through some serious mid-life crisis emotions lately regarding this idea - she truly never thought she'd get to this age in this world; she is so thankful she acted like she would, but still it kind of haunts her that she almost didn't.

We are told that the younger generation has no work ethic and it happens every generation. With the younger generation such as my kids and they are in their very early twenties companies do not hold the power over them as they once did with other generations. Maybe it is because they have been bombarded with being told they were going to die very early age whether it be due to environmental or the current tribulations of the world.

That’s wonderful—your favorite piece was created by your wife. And it’s hanging right there in your office, so you get to see it every day. It’s exactly this kind of atmosphere that makes your workspace feel so warm and homey. By the way, do you ever draw comics or anything like that yourself?

@Nithya_Shrii And yet both my wife and I started in the poor boat and moved in to the middle class boat and are working to get up to that last boat for our kids before we die. It was hard, it was a struggle - we did have trauma and we did build character which is helping us "figure it out."

Rich kids get capital. Middle class kids get “figure it out.” Poor kids get trauma and told it builds character. The starting line is not equal.

@elonmusk Maybe? I like not being smashed with a ton of political stuff, I like seeing my interests and hobbies, etc. But I do get the feeling like it's trying to constantly pigeon-hole me in to one thing or another and I'm just a little more eclectic than that I guess 🤷‍♂️
