April 15, 2026 For immediate release: CCHL Public Statement Regarding Alex Armstrong In September 2025, the Central Canada Hockey League terminated the membership of the Pembroke Lumber Kings owner, Alex Armstrong, pending a right to appeal to Hockey Eastern Ontario and Hockey Canada. Mr. Armstrong’s appeal rights have now been exhausted and he is no longer a member of the CCHL. Shortly, the CCHL will be seeking a buyer to purchase a membership in the League, operating out of the municipality of Pembroke, ON. Families can be assured that the cards / playing rights of all players held by the Pembroke Lumber Kings are now vested with the CCHL. We appreciate the patience you have shown this season and as this process moves forward.

Ottawa’s PK was 31st in the NHL on January 23rd. Two things happened on January 24th. Mike Yeo took over the lead on coaching the PK, and Mike Amadio became more of a regular on it. It’s 7th NHL since then.

Shameful cowards. Players were told they use 10 criteria to determine viability of the program. Players asked what those 10 criteria were, the VP of the university could only remember 3.

Grad students and student-athletes who undergo a coaching change (or program drop) can enter the portal before the window opens in a few weeks. No surprise, but 21 Mercyhurst players entered the portal today. 24 hours ago, none of them knew their program was in jeopardy.

We'll never know if this played a role or not, because the school will never admit it, but two years ago, Mercyhurst was in a D-II conference where every other conference member, except one, was in PA. Then they went D-I in the NEC and incurred significantly more travel.

@MercyhurstU Can you explain knowing this decision had been made, why you would ask your HC to post a video soliciting donations for Giving Day 2 days ago? Even posting it on Mercyhurst Athletics social? Did you wait long enough for the last check to be cashed before telling the players?

@SteveWarneMedia Steve I build new homes for a living and heat pumps are becoming a standard thing for us. It will do a great job heating your house until it gets down to around -15c. You are also getting a significant upgrade on your AC unit, much less to run in the summer when you need AC
