@ZaidJilani Drunken Master 2 is my favorite martial arts movie of all time! Every fight scene is incredible, but yeah, the final showdown in the steel foundry is insane.

@theashleyray Yes, totally. I should've selected a different tweet to quote (or kept my opinions to myself). Numerous people responding to Dylan said they grew up with huge families in tiny houses, and it was fine. I did as well, and did not think it was fine.

I have thought a lot about the red button-blue button question, and I would still push the blue button because I’d rather be dead than live alongside *only* the people I’ve seen argue for pushing red.

@john_woody Yeah, I have a 2-year-old, a 4-year-old, and a developmentally disabled adult relative. Stanning for blue feels right in my bones. I should've made that case rather than inciting red-pushers.

@marxseventh @Mary_Kartografr I'm so confused. You just tweeted, "btw, Mike, if *you* voted red bc u believe in socialism..." I'm simply saying I don't believe in socialism.

@MikeRiggs This is why I push red; the chance of a genocide of egalitarians.

@marxseventh @Mary_Kartografr I voted anonymously in the original poll and chose blue. The last time I checked that poll, blue was still winning. Yes, tweeting about my vote was signaling. I clearly offended a lot of people who thought they were making the more humane choice. I wish I'd been less unkind.

@Mary_Kartografr @MikeRiggs RIGHT. But that is exactly why when the time came there's no fucking way u wd actually vote blue. We all know that--that's why this question is so funny, its whole purpose is just to troll these ppl who chase after social clout in the most transparently ridiculous way possible.

@john_woody My sense is that we are all responding to a different version of this experiment, which is my best explanation for why I appear to have genuinely angered dozens of people I've never interacted with.

@MikeRiggs Do the red button pressers understand that babies are also getting a choice? If so there shouldn’t be a lot of red button pressers.

@Mary_Kartografr @MikeRiggs btw, Mike, if *you* voted red bc u believe in socialism, u believe everyone is equal, u believe we all have a duty to do our part, you believe it's immoral to demand others risk their lives for you, then "the red voters" wouldn't only be the people you hate, it would be you too.

@MikeRiggs I know that I'm right. And I know it's not the exact question, this is part of your deprogramming. So now that you know what the objectively correct answer is, explain why anyone ELSE would push blue in a private poll.

I have thought a lot about this tweet and now wish I hadn't sent it! I thought we were all working off the Tim Urban prompt and the rules he established in the ensuing thread. It's clear to me from numerous responses (well, the ones that are not just some version of "I would be happy if you died") that many people are thinking about this question using different criteria.

@L0SCH @RisingEndea @r_u_thinking State coercion would not be possible in the thought experiment Tim Urban proposed. As I said to another poster, in a scenario where humans can coordinate over a sufficiently long time horizon, I accept red as the better choice.

@No_Sugar_m8 You know what, you're right. If we're all lining up, pressing in order, with televised results, the right answer is red, and I would choose red. But that was not Tim Urban's thought experiment, which is what my initial (now clearly too inflammatory) tweet was in response to.

@MikeRiggs You realize that is completely irrelevant and not analogous in the slightest to this conversation right? She needs groceries. You don't need to press a button. She took a small risk for the outcome of having food. You choose to take a risk to look good. Those aren't analogous

@MikeRiggs This brings up yet another very good observation abt the blue mind. Rather than saying the obviously caring, magnanimous gesture of "no, don't risk it! u should vote red. Save yourself." Your position ONLY works by insisting as many people risk their lives as possible. It's vile.

Something just occurred to me about how fucking moronic the blue position is. A big part of their argument is (allegedly) they don't want to kill half the population. What's the other side? That's right, "I'd rather kill half the population than live with red people."

@marxseventh The original thought experiment — the one I voted in and thought we were all discussing — was posed by Tim Urban, who said in response to a questioner that there is no opportunity to lobby and that the buttons are distributed to every person on Earth, including babies.

@MikeRiggs (but it's not just about u. It's that u NEED others to risk their own deaths. Rather than counseling, no, no one should die, you're counseling that all of us dying is better than living with reds.) Rather than "don't risk it--vote red," your *advice* is: RISK DEATH! Go for it!"
