I don’t think we had shop class in HS but from 10-12th grade I did theatre production/set construction. It was an insanely valuable experience that taught me skills I use every day in my adult life. Like today when I fixed our kitchen cabinet doors that wouldn’t stay closed.

one of the worst decisions of the last few decades has been removing shop classes from high schools. not being able to build something with your own hands fundamentally perverts how you interact with the world. you’re locked to consume. build the bookcase, it will set you free
