Another milestone achieved! Finally made it official and secured my first DeGod 😊 Even before I bought in, this community has been amazing and the opportunities it afforded me were insane. I literally travelled halfway across the earth without even being a holder, and DeGods made that happen. Proud to call myself a DeGod, can’t wait to see what else we do together. So with that I ask, do DeGods still follow DeGods? 😏 #DeGodMode

A Stanford study found that people who played Pokémon heavily as kids developed a small region of the brain that responds specifically to Pokémon characters. Researchers scanned adults who grew up playing on Game Boy and showed them images of Pokémon like Pikachu and Bulbasaur. Their brains lit up in the same exact spot, a consistent area in the visual cortex tied to recognizing specific categories of objects. The reason comes down to childhood. When you’re young, your brain is more flexible, and spending hours memorizing hundreds of similar-looking Pokémon essentially trained it to carve out space just for them. (via @Stanford)

@FanaticsCollect @grok When we were kids we would memorize real animals. We didn’t need Pokémon to tell us the difference between a dog and a crocodile or a bird from a pig. 🤣🤣🤣🤣. F_cking losers.

Counterpoint: Oak wanted to teach blue a lesson about arrogance. Blue was shown from the get-go to be prideful and independent to a fault thinking he didn’t need friendship with Pokémon to be strong only his own skill and strength. Oak saw red as the perfect counter to humble blue as red was inexperienced and had to learn through those around him and build bonds to get strong. The classic natural genius versus hard worker dynamic. Oak through his AIDS sought to help red particularly when he shows at least growth by catching more Pokémon thus receiving things like flash and the exp share. Every time blue faces red and loses he plays it off as a lucky win but when he loses in the Pokémon league he has run out of excuses and is forced to come to terms with the fact that red was just better than him and this is emphasized by Oak chastising him and explaining that blue lost because he didn’t view Pokémon as companions only as tools which we see through team rocket and more specifically Giovanni as a very dark path. I think Oak was worried that left unchecked blue could’ve ended up like Giovanni and was so hard on him so blue could finally understand that being a champion isn’t about just finding strong Pokémon but building bonds that are unbreakable. even Giovanni somewhat understood that after he lost to red and that’s important because we know he had to have lost to blue otherwise blue wouldn’t have been able to go to the Pokémon league as well as blue has his name as a victor of the Veridian gem but Giovanni had not disbanded team rocket after losing because blue was more of a reflection of his own path rather than what red was which was a reflection of a better path that Giovanni never took which was seeing Pokémon as friends and companions rather than tools and weapons. Last, red was never chosen to be the Meridian city gym leader because he was the champion first and foremost so that wouldn’t make sense for him to take a step down unless he was defeated or something like that. Also read retreated to Mount Silver away from everybody so it’s not like he would’ve wanted to take the job anyway. Blue was a logical pick one because he was an incredibly strong trainer in his own right but two because over that several year. He had matured and began to understand what his grandpa was trying to teach him. Being a gym leader was a responsibility in an honor that was good for him because now he could oversee future generations and help make sure they are on the right path and avoid going down the wrong path that he almost went down. Ultimately oak was trying to help blue but not in a way to give him an Advantage over red but rather to help him understand how to be a better person and a better trainer. Could you argue Oak was using red to an extent? Sure but he still wanted to see red grow as red represented everything a Pokémon trainer should be: kind, courageous, hard-working, and dedicated. Oak wanted his grandson to be like that as well so from the very moment they set off on their journeys Oak had given blue the thing he needed most a rival who would push him not only to be a better trainer but a better person

Did Professor Oak rig the system so his grandson would become Champion? • The Setup: Gary is already at the lab when you arrive, but Oak explicitly makes him wait and forces you to pick your starter first. This isn't politeness. It’s a calculated move so Gary can instantly counter-pick you • The Tracking: Gary is miraculously always waiting to fight you with a fully healed team at the worst possible times. How? Oak gave you the Pokédex. He is tracking your real-time location and feeding it to Gary so he can ambush you • The Intel: Gary is always one step ahead. He automatically gets a Town Map, where you have to go beg for one. He beats every Gym Leader before you do. Oak is clearly funneling him the optimal routes, boss strategies, and insider League information Professor Oak handed you a tracking device and used you as a constant sparring partner for his own grandson. And even when you beat Giovanni, who gets the spotlight? That's right! Gary gets handed the Gym! But maybe that's just a bunch of random coincidences... Or is it? 🤔
