I like Tate and think he’s good but don’t really want to hear about Freeling only starting 1 year when Tate has 1 year of starting as a top 2 WR, in which they played 3 real teams (Texas, Indiana, Miami). A lot of production against garbage

You could have a player whose drops stem from him trying to turn and run upfield before securing the pass (Concepcion) You could have a player whose drops stem from the ball hitting him in the chest before he makes the catch You could have a player whose drops stem from him jumping to make routine catches when they don’t need to jump You could have a player whose drops stem from poor technical coaching and development of their technique I’m not concerned about KC Concepcion’s drops, because I think they can be coached and developed at the NFL level to occur with much less frequency.

What is the hit rate on first-round WRs?
If the Browns don’t take a WR at No. 6, they can just take one at No. 24, right?
I went back and charted all the WRs taken in the first round of the NFL Draft since 2016 (the last decade). How many of them were hits?
For this study, a player is considered a “hit” if he became his team’s WR1 within the first 3 seasons and/or received a contract extension.
Here’s what I found.
Hit Rates (42 total WRs drafted in the 1st round):
🔸Total 1st Round: 17 of 42 for 40.5%
🔸Top-10 Pick: 9 of 12 for 75.0%
🔸Picks 11-20: 3 of 11 for 27.3%
🔸Picks 21-32: 5 of 19 for 26.3%
The difference in odds to “hit” on a WR between picking one at 6 and picking one at 24 drops from 75.0% to 26.3%.
The odds decrease by 65%!
That’s why the Browns need to take Carnell Tate at No. 6.

@MoreForYou_CLE No they don’t. It’s a deep wr class. Just take a couple before we reach round 4. Doesn’t make sense to reach for WR at 6 when none of them are chase, Calvin johnson, or Jeremiah smith
