@vinitiea Yeah I actually did just read that, and I think its absolutely the origin of the mask iconography but I think the purple even predates that!

@Mostlyhumanish afaik it had to do with the fic And The Universe Shifts. it was majorly popular in the hermitcraft fandom in 2019, which coincides with your estimation as to the earliest appearance. it's where I first saw the purple association myself, at least

I'm doing a little research into the origins and developments of the watcher lore and I was wondering if anyone knows the origin of the purple association? Is that in Evo? (haven't finished watching it lol). It shows up in fanart as early as june 2019 on tblr!

@buildinbl0cks Yeah I guess the obsidian and portals would be enough to make the association. It's all really interesting, like the fanon developments.
