An under-appreciated but defining characteristic of Trump is that whereas other presidents were simply sellouts to the oil and gas industry, he actually hates nature. He despises its beauty and wants to see it destroyed. The existence of sacred landscapes offends his ego.

its original intent was advice for people who engaged in self-destructive people-pleasing behaviors, and it honestly wasn’t bad advice for those types.

NYT confirmed on Friday that Paolo Zampolli used his influence to have her transferred to an ICE facility. She disappeared for 3.5 months & was at 2 different facilities. She has described the horrors of that experience. Amanda’s story is much bigger than anyone realizes. MUCH.

Amanda’s story is unique. She’s been targeted since she was at least 15 yo & was trapped in a relationship with a powerful older man who spent 20+ years abusing her in various ways. Then when she finally broke free & found freedom, Paolo used his influence to have ICE deport her.

@mojotastic Scaachi’s profile is very well done and, imo, pretty fair to Lindy. She’s not too hard on Aham but she does note that he doesn’t come off great in the book. I suspect he didn’t like that Scaachi noted how he and Roya aren’t even with Lindy as she promotes her book.

@mojotastic That’s partly what gets me: Lindy West is an accomplished, successful writer. Aham’s sister is Ijeoma Oluo, also an accomplished and successful writer. Where does this guy get off criticizing anybody writer like Scaachi??

@MsMartaD Honestly it’s a fast read, I’m tearing through it. It’s very funny but I am also constantly cringing at how little she values herself. She is smart and pretty and successful! Like, girl! You deserve better! Just put Scaachi’s on my to-read list!

@mojotastic Oh you’re reading it? How do you like it? I can’t bring myself to support it based on Oluo himself, but Lindy is a good writer. Scaachi’s latest, Sucker Punch, is fantastic.

@MsMartaD Oh yea. I’m almost done with the memoir but it strikes me that she’s working so far to take any blame off him and doesn’t seem to realize how terrible he STILL comes off. Imagine if she wasn’t editing to make him look better.

@mojotastic And the writer, Scaachi Koul, was right on in pointing out his entitlement in feeling he could insult her like that. Very much backs up Lindy’s descriptions of him in her own writing.

scaachi's very fair and empathetic profile got the crazy email response because when people are rubbernecking, hating, or being parasocial psychos that's one thing but when they describe you in insufficiently glowing terms THAT'S unforgivable

Scaachi Koul did a pretty nice profile of Lindy West & her polycule & the husband was so mad Scaachi didn’t gush over him, he sent her an email calling her a bitter, untalented, shitty person & then the girlfriend emailed calling her racist & Lindy also emailed her complaining!!!
