We have to be a bit more independent,” Sy-Coson said of the multi-billion dollar investment. Zobel, whose brother Fernando sits on the board of Shell Pilipinas, played along. “I would gladly invest in it together with you, Tessie,” he said, drawing laughs from the crowd. Petron Corp., backed by tycoon Ramon S. Ang’s San Miguel Corp., is now the country’s sole remaining refinery, processing crude into fuel.
