In February 2023, 41 Amhara IDPs were killed at dawn in Anno Town, East Wollega. In November 2024 the regime stripped Amhara of their firearms while OLA remained armed in the same zone. An ENDF general said openly: “Wollega will not be peaceful until your demise.”

62.5% of #Amhara children (more than double the National Average) were stunted in 2024. That was before the intensified drone strikes, market destructions, and blockades of 2025. #AmharaGenocide

What can the #Amhara people learn from the Gafat? The Gafat who submitted ceased to exist within 2 centuries. Collective resistance is the only proven path to survival. #Fano

WELKAIT, ETHIOPIA - APRIL 07, 2022: Addisu Mamaye Ayane wipes his brow as he stands next to the remains of at least three individuals excavated from a mass grave in the town of Adi Selam on April 07, 2022 in Welkait, Ethiopia. The town of Adi Selam was adjacent to a torture camp run by the TPLF called Ghehenab or "Hell". When "Ghehenab" was in operation between 1985 and 1991 hundreds if not thousands of ethnic Amhara's were tortured and killed by the TPLF in the camp. Since the TPLF was pushed out of Welkait, there have been efforts by individuals and organizations to assist members of the Welkait-Tegede community in finding the remains of missing loved ones and giving them proper burials. Currently there are untold hundreds if not thousands of individuals still buried in mass graves around the numerous torture prisons and obscure mass graves throughout Welkait. The torture prison Ghehenab which is adjacent to the town of Adi Selam contained a few man-made cells along with multiple caves and natural formations that served as torture facilities where members of the Welkait-Tegede community were imprisoned, tortured and murdered because of their Amhara ethnicity. The camp began operating in 1985 during the time the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) occupied Welkait as they fought against the Derg Regime before gaining control of all of Ethiopia in 1991. Welkait was Amhara land for as much as 1000 years prior to 1991 when the region was annexed and incorporated into Tigray by the TPLF. The discovery of multiple mass graves and extermination camps has been taking place over the past year after the TPLF was pushed out of Welkait. (Photo by J. Countess/Getty Images)

As April ends, let this be clear: the #AmharaGenocide doesn't follow a calendar. Our pain is real, our history is documented, and our demand for justice is unwavering. We deserve the same global recognition afforded to every other genocide in history. The awareness month closes,

Killing civilians in reprisal for combatant losses is explicitly prohibited under Geneva Convention IV, Art. 33 and constitutes a war crime under Rome Statute Art. 8(2)(b)(i). Targeting civilians at a place of worship violates Additional Protocol I, Art. 52. #AmharaGenocide

Every single time the regime in Ethiopia is threatened due to any kind of art....music, movie, poem, books they get so paranoid that they start hunting down the audience! This is such an established MO of the regime one can simply expect a string of arrests as soon as an art piece that opposes the tyrannical/genicidal nature of the regime drops! #TeddyAfro who recently took the global music scene like a storm is having his colleagues, friends and his massive fan base being targeted in Ethiopia. Over a 100 people arrested already! #RemoveTheRegimeInEthiopia #MassArrestsInEthiopia End #AmharaGenocide
Amhara War Updates | የአማራ ጦርነት ወቅታዊ መረጃ@AmharaWarUpdate

⚡️Over 100 youths arrested in Addis-Ababa (📍Ethiopia) on April 16th–17th over listening to Tewodros Kassahun new album, raising concerns of political repression. 🔴 Security forces reportedly detained more than 100 youths following the release of new music by Teddy Afro, conducting search operations targeting individuals accused of engaging with politically sensitive content. 🔴 On April 17th, authorities announced the arrest of 138 individuals, alleging links to extremist or terrorist groups, though details of evidence remain unclear. 🔴 The arrests have drawn criticism from human rights observers, who warn of due process violations and the use of security justifications to suppress dissent and limit political expression in the lead-up to national elections. #Amhara_War_Updates

Even @hrw put out an article today titled “EU’s Relations with Ethiopia Ignore Grim Human Rights Reality: Heightened Repression, Lack of Accountability Shouldn’t be Overlooked”, describing this as rewarding "a repressive pre-electoral phase”. hrw.org/news/2026/04/2…

Shocking & disgusting! On April 20, the EU resumed direct budget support to the Ethiopian regime after having suspended it for 5+ years, approving €420 mill. with NO conditions, calling it "governance reforms." While the #AmharaGenocide goes on.
