In Shigeaki Mori, a Japanese atomic bomb survivor from Hiroshima, President Obama saw the best of humanity, even while reflecting on one of our darkest chapters. Mori died Sunday at age 88. Today, we honor his example, which President Obama spoke to in 2016 when he visited Hiroshima on the 71st anniversary of America dropping the atomic bomb on that city. Among the more than 140,000 killed in Hiroshima, Mori discovered 30 years later that there were 12 American POWs. He researched the men and wrote to their families, who didn’t yet know how their loved ones had died. President Obama was the first sitting U.S. president to visit Hiroshima, and while there, he reflected on Mori’s work — how it connected people through their shared humanity, regardless of their countless differences: “We’re not bound by genetic code to repeat the mistakes of the past. We can learn. We can choose. We can tell our children a different story –- one that describes a common humanity; one that makes war less likely and cruelty less easily accepted. We see these stories in the hibakusha –- the woman who forgave a pilot who flew the plane that dropped the atomic bomb, because she recognized that what she really hated was war itself; the man who sought out families of Americans killed here, because he believed their loss was equal to his own.” In telling the story of the universality of loss, Mori set an example for us all and we are all better for his contributions.

Today marks 8 years since police killed Stephon Clark, shooting him 8 times in the back. He was only 22 years old, unarmed, and in his grandmother’s backyard. The officers were never charged. We remember his name. We remember his story. And we stand with his family as they continue to fight for justice and honor his legacy.

The Next Generation Action Network is aware of the statements and social media commentary being circulated by an individual named Sarah J. Fields. Let us be clear: our organization will not engage in back-and-forth with individuals whose pattern of behavior reflects racism, misinformation, and personal attacks designed to undermine the work of a human and civil rights organization. We first became aware of this individual during the early stages of the Karmelo Anthony case when she began inserting herself into the public narrative surrounding the matter. Since that time, she has continued attempting to spread false claims, including circulating what she alleges to be a “letter” on social media. Our organization has no knowledge of such a document, and to date, we have not been contacted by any law enforcement agency regarding any investigation into the Next Generation Action Network. NGAN operates with integrity and transparency. When our organization or our clients require security services for events or sensitive situations, we contract with professional security providers, as is standard practice for organizations operating in public spaces. No member of our internal staff presents themselves as law enforcement or security personnel unless it is in a volunteer capacity during a critical incident where immediate community safety is involved. Our organization’s mission has always been rooted in advocacy, justice, and the protection of human and civil rights. If Ms. Fields wishes to continue filing complaints or spreading documents across social media, she is free to do so. We will give her all the paper she needs to file whatever she wants. It will not deter our organization, and it will not distract us from the work that matters. The Next Generation Action Network will not stop our mission of standing up for justice for all people regardless of race, color, creed, or sexual orientation. At this moment in America, we are at a crossroads where some believe their attacks, opinions, or social media commentary will somehow derail movements that fight for justice and equality. Let us be clear: we do not give a damn about the noise when it comes from those attempting to discredit our work through racism and bad faith. Our focus remains where it has always been on protecting our communities, defending human rights, and continuing the fight for justice. No individual, no smear campaign, and no amount of misinformation will stop that mission.

Justice matters. Former Dallas Police Association President Jaime Castro has pleaded guilty to a charge connected to the fatal crash that took the life of Atianna Washington. Our deepest condolences remain with Atianna Washington’s family. While no outcome can restore the life that was lost, today’s development shows that no one is above the law. However, the failures in the early handling of this investigation revealed serious concerns about transparency and accountability within the system. We must ensure that no police union or individual has influence over critical investigations. As the largest human and civil rights organization in North Texas, the Next Generation Action Network remains committed to working with city leaders and the Dallas Police Department to ensure this never happens again. Atianna Washington’s life mattered. Justice must prevail. #JusticeForAtiannaWashington #Accountability #NGAN

If this picture could speak, it would tell the whole story. This is where it all began the part some people would rather ignore. For the critics, the doubters, and even the headlines that try to shape the narrative… just know this: real change doesn’t always move loudly. Sometimes it moves quietly, steadily, and before you realize it, everything is different. This moment right here speaks volumes. And the truth is, the work was always bigger than the noise.

Dallas, it’s our turn. As memorial celebrations take place across the nation, the Next Generation Action Network calls on the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex to gather and honor the life and legacy of a giant — Reverend Jesse Louis Jackson (October 8, 1941 – February 17, 2026). A civil rights icon. A freedom fighter. A voice for the poor, the marginalized, and the forgotten. A man whose work was beyond revolutionary. From marching with Dr. King to building the Rainbow Coalition and transforming American politics, Reverend Jackson expanded what was possible for Black communities and all people fighting for justice. He didn’t just speak truth to power he organized it. Now we gather to celebrate his life, reflect on his impact, and recommit to the movement. 📍 Wednesday, March 4, 2026 🕕 6:00 PM 📌 TBAAL Temporary Home 3800 Parry Avenue Texas Woman’s Museum at Fair Park Dallas, Texas Hosted by the Next Generation Action Network This is more than a memorial. It is a call to continue the work. Dallas, stand up. DFW, show up. #ReverendJesseJackson #LongLiveTheMovement #NGAN #PeoplePower

What we are witnessing from the current American president should deeply concern every person who believes in democracy, accountability, and human rights. The expansion of military strikes across multiple countries, along with credible reports that innocent civilians including children have been harmed, demands serious moral reflection. Civilian casualties should never be normalized. The loss of innocent life is not collateral damage; it is a human tragedy. When military escalation replaces diplomacy, and when power is exercised without clear accountability, democracy itself is weakened. The alignment with Benjamin Netanyahu’s leadership, amid ongoing concerns surrounding corruption and the humanitarian crisis unfolding in the region, raises urgent questions about the direction of American foreign policy. American taxpayers should not be complicit in actions that contribute to instability, suffering, or the erosion of human rights. The Next Generation Action Network stands firmly against tyranny, injustice, and the abuse of power whether it occurs locally, nationally, or globally. We believe in transparency, congressional oversight, and a commitment to diplomacy over destruction. History will remember this moment. The question is whether we will remain silent or stand clearly on the side of justice and human dignity. #PeoplePower #HumanRights #Accountability #DiplomacyOverWar

What we are witnessing in the public debate around Dallas City Hall is not just disagreement — it is contradiction at the highest level. There is a coordinated campaign calling on residents to “save” Dallas City Hall. They are organizing tours. They are pushing emotional narratives. They are suggesting hidden agendas. But what they are not addressing is their own record. Some of the loudest voices now demanding that we preserve the current structure are the very same individuals who opposed investing $58 million into repairing and stabilizing that building when the opportunity was on the table. You cannot block funding to fix City Hall and then turn around and claim you are its strongest defender. That is not consistency. That is political convenience. Meanwhile, the City of Dallas is at a financial crossroads. Surrounding suburban cities are aggressively pursuing economic development opportunities. If Dallas fails to act strategically, we risk becoming a shopping cart for other cities to pick from while we argue among ourselves. This decision is not about nostalgia. It is about worker safety, fiscal responsibility, and the long-term economic health of our city. It is about whether we prioritize streets, bridges, parks, public safety, and critical infrastructure — or whether we pour limited resources into a structure that experts have already documented as deeply compromised. For the Next Generation Action Network, this is about the people. When cities make poor financial decisions, it is working families, seniors, and those living in poverty who pay the price first. Social programs are cut. Wraparound services shrink. Inequality grows. We cannot afford political games when the stakes are this high. Dallas deserves leadership rooted in facts, not fear. Data, not drama. Strategy, not spectacle. Build the Future. Not the Past. The Future Is Bigger Than a Building. It is time to move Dallas forward.
