Today is Archbishop Janan Luwum Day, who was murdered by Idi Amin for political reasons since Amin believed the Archbishop (together with ministers he killed along with him) were working with Milton Obote to overthrow his regime. We commemorate this day as a reminder that Uganda should no longer witness violations of human rights, especially extra judicial killings. Yet we witnessed violence; arrests; and murders during the just concluded general elections! The stability and development of Uganda can only be fully realised when the Rule of Law reigns. #JananLuwumDay

PSST GGOOBI & MoFPED SENIOR TOP TECHNICAL TEAM VISIT SPECIALISED HOSPITAL IN LUBOWA: The PSST Dr. @rggoobi accompanied by @mofpedU senior top technical team today visited the International Specialised Hospital of Uganda (ISHU) in Lubowa to assess the progress of construction works. The PSST after the guided tour of the hospital said he was impressed by the progress made since his last visit and pledged to work with the hospital management team to address all the remaining challenges including securing a dedicated power line. Once completed, the hospital will offer highly specialised diagnostic and treatment services in Uganda and this will reduce referral cases of patients abroad.

Pathfinder International has donated Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) equipment to the Ministry of Health, with funding from the UK Government through the Empowering Women for Better Reproductive Health Outcomes (EMPOWER) Programme. The programme adopts a health systems strengthening approach to support the Government of Uganda in reducing preventable maternal and child mortality. The Permanent Secretary, Dr. @DianaAtwine, officially flagged off the equipment for distribution to the respective beneficiary health facilities. The donated equipment, which includes oxygen blenders, mechanical ventilators, stationary baby cots with mattresses, and neonatal patient monitors, among others, is intended to enhance the quality of newborn care services. The equipment will benefit Regional Referral Hospitals in Masaka, Lira and Fort Portal, as well as Iganga General Hospital. #MOHatWork

Uganda's National Drug Authority has just approved Lenacapavir, a twice-yearly dose #PrEP manufactured by Gilead, a USA based company! This is a game-changer for #HIV prevention, especially for those at high risk. This is great step towards ending #AIDS by 2030 in Uganda.
